this photo has been shared over 14,750 times on facebook with the message "This photo is actually getting pulled off Facebook...so, the photographer added a lil text and renamed the file. Pass it on. I'm SURE the media doesn't want this one out there. Share it as much as you can." I'm sure the media doesn't want a fake photoshopped image of a protest in lower Manhattan as well. same thing happened with the Tea Party movement- folks come out and complain about the media coverage and lack of "true numbers" being reported. then the photoshoppers come out of the woodwork to create a false image of propaganda. it's incredibly ironic.
Occupy Wallstreet? How about Occupy a Job? I am just as much a grand conspirator as the next person and I can tell you about all the bad, mischevious things that congress and bankers partake in. However, I just don't have a whole lot of sympathy for the 0.0001% of the 99% who choose to protest with no leader and [/i]no goal or message[/i]. Most of these younguns look my age 22-30 (I'm somewhere in there). Is it really Wallstreet's fault that they spent 4-6 years in college, not once during their self-indulgent journey bothering to think of whether that philosophy degree could land them a jo? I ain't saying college is all about job training, if you really want good job training go to a trade school or JUCO where they teach that sort of thing. However, you ought to have some kind of idea of what can be accomplished as a result of 4 years of work. I know what it is like to search for a job and come up dry. I also know what it is like to bite the bullet.
Protests like the Occupy etc.. are easy to criticize but this is an exercise of a free society. I might not agree with all of what these people are advocating, especially when some of it is simplistic and even conflicting, but I have no problem with people going out and expressing their right to speech and assembly.
If that's all they were doing than they wouldn't be getting arrested by the hundreds. The tea party would never disrespect the law like this.
They are being arrested for blocking traffic and not for violence, as far as I can tell. Anyway out of a nationwide movement hundreds seems like a small number. As far as the Tea Party I have said several times that I think its a good thing for them to express their rights.
What's your point? It's not really a crime unless you physically hurt someone? It's still inconveniencing fellow citizens. Bloomberg says they are hurting the economy Relative to the opposition (tea party), it's incredibly massive. It's a good thing they are expressing their rights WHILE respecting the law. The one who violates my rights and inconveniences me/others. Why would I give a **** what they carry in their hand?
uh, I'm guessing you haven't been 10 miles close to one of these protests so not sure how your rights are being inconvenienced. You’re a joke
jo mama's official list of problems... 1) our elected officials are in the pockets of wall street, banks and multinational corporations - corporate welfare 2) lobbyists write the laws and give them to our elected officials to pass 3) revolving door b/t corporate world and government - bush ties to haliburton and enron and obama ties to goldman sachs and GE 4) influence of military industrial complex 5) erosion of civil liberties 6) unchecked power of the federal reserve - no oversight or accountability jo mama's official list of solutions... 1) term limits on all elected offices 2) ban corporate contributions & rejection of the notion that corps are people 3) ban all lobbyists 4) publicly funded elections 5) audit the federal reserve 6) investigations and prosecution of those who violated the law - martha stewart wasnt the only one 7) end all of our wars immediately 8) destroy the TSA 9) denounce torture and prosecute all those who authorized or engaged in it 10) no more bailouts/stimulus packages & rejection of the notion of "too big to fail"
Nice to see another cultural stereotype shattered. Nothing he said actually pertained to the protest or issues at hand; so it's really not fair to use that clip as a proxy, but that was just a dumb adult male.
Mob with guns that threaten the President and rhapsodize about "renewing the tree of patriotism with blood", and that have been affiliated with violent acts/vandalism of congressional offices, and which have largely been shown to simply be a mirror of the religious right buoyed by dubious lobbies---harmless organic movement. A crowd of people with drums and tambourines who want to solve income inequality---THEY'RE HARMING JOBS. PANIC PANIC PANIC. amusing.
In fact, some of these are respectable corporations, are what good about capitalism. The only stupid thing is the title added by some moron: "down with evil corporations"
i don't agree with these protesters but i totally agree with this post. this kids need to develop some focus on the protest. there are legitmate complaints about fortune 500s and wall street but you have to articulate them. without that you look like a bunch of dumb kids and it doesn't help your cause
