This is pre-BCS. The computers are not allowed to factor in the actual score of the game. This is all for the voters. Even at this end of the stick I don't have a problem with it. Means a lot for the team and the fans over there. Horns should do SOMETHING.
I came in here to discuss the game but the childishness of this thread is too much, some posters seriously need to grow up.
OU has lost spots in the AP poll to LSU and Alabama despite being undefeated and starting at #1. That poll doesn't count in the BCS standings but OU is probably worried about the same thing happening in the USA Today poll where they've been losing votes as well. They wanted to send a statement that they deserve to remain #1.
Definitely gained some experience from this game. It'll help down the line. Got OK. State next week. Another tough match up.
David Ash better develop or we are screwed for while. I still don't get the Manny hiring when we could have had an NFL quality defensive coordinator like Jerry Gray.
I might be the only fan here who really doesn't blame Chris Simms for everything. Hey we beat Saban and LSU with him in a bowl game!
I'm a member on some sports betting forums and some insider newsletters. All of the experts were going crazy over this line. OU was only a 10 point favorite early this week and everyone was throwing big money on OU then the line moved to 11 - everyone said Vegas had missed this game big time. Let's just say that myself and some others made big money on this game just betting OU to cover. The insiders were calling OU by 30 and Vegas really missed it. The fact that Texas was ranked 11 coming into this game is just unbelievable. They are not a top 25 team. They will be, but come on it's a team full of freshmen with a noodle armed QB. Just an absolute mismatch.
That was just a butt kicking from open to close. I thought UT had a shot and at worst would keep it competitive. I didn't think they'd just roll over and die shortly before kickoff. They have a lot of work to do to get it back together and not have this happen again next week against OSU.
How they respond will say a lot about the character of the team. They don't need to win. They just need to stay in it and fight. We can win half our games this year. With as much experience the young team is getting, it will be worth it. I don't know if college fans (UT fans especially) understand the concept of a rebuilding year. I hated how they reacted last year at a team that had more wins in the last 10 years than any other program. I don't want to start a greg davis debate but to praise vince and colt and bash the guy calling the plays is mind boggling. The fact was they had bad players. It was an in between year in recruiting. Gilbert had a lot to do with it along with No great RBs and a below average OL. The stat on how many freshman and sophomores that are playing is crazy. Next year, Jordan Hicks and Jaxon Jeffcoat will be in their 3rd year and hopefully rock solid. If we can pickup some more WRs this February it will help what looks like promising prospects in McCoy and Ash. That OU team is what the '09 and '05 Texas teams were. They rebuilt and this year is the culmination of that work. Overall today was a great character building loss. Great experience at the Red River. A good humbling game after the young team started 4-0. Very excited to be a longhorn fan right now. This is building for '13 and '14.
