The only Reason why Rodgers is over Rivers is cuz Rodgers has won a SB , Rivers puts up sick numbers , but his team has not gotten to the Big game .

BTW im a Chargers fan , I love Rivers . But i could have a QB , i would take Rodgers over Rivers everyday of the week.

People always take a crap on Big Ben, 71-31, that's a 70% win rate. Add to that his 10-3 playoff record and he's looking damn good. Then you look at the fact he gets sacked on average 3 times a game, that's a lot. Manning has a worse win %, don't even need to add that he has a losing playoff record. Manning's O line has been world's better than Ben's, he only gets sacked about once a game.

Not at all a Pittsburgh fan, but I'll take wins, playoffs wins, superbowls > passing yards and the TDs that come with the yards.

edit: I was going to go back and check out INTs to see if there's an argument to be had there. But apparently on average Ben throws less INTs per game.

Big Ben is a good QB, but for most of his career, the sacks were his fault, not the O-line's. The first super bowl, Ben was complete garbage. Even in the 2nd SB win, he wouldn't have won without James Harrison's miracle pick 6, or an amazing catch by Santonio Holmes. He then played poorly in his 3rd SB appearance (was terrible in the AFC title game).

Except Phillip Rivers has had Vincent Jackson, LT, and most importantly, Antonio Gates. It isn't like he hasn't had weapons. Maybe its the defenses fault. Lets check:

    2006:7th in points allowed
    2007:5th
    2008:15th
    2009:11th
    2010:10th

No, thats not it. Lets check some other stats outside of passer rating? How about rushing stats?

Rodgers has 979 yards and 15TDs
Rivers has 287 yards and 2TDs

In fairness to Rivers, he has been starting for 2 more years than Rodgers.

    Let's check the playoff stats

    Rivers: 58.5% 8tds 9ints 79.2qbrtg
    Rodgers: 68.7% 13tds 3ints 112.6qbrtg + 3 rushing TDs

I just don't know. Its too close to call.

You're nit picking at stats. Rushing? Are you serious? For that I'll just pull Rivers record in December or as a starter. They're significant numbers (other then passer rating) are nearly identical over the past 3 years.

    Rivers: 92td/33ints 12,973yds
    Rodgers: 86tds/31ints 12,303yds

Rivers and LT never peaked together, LT was never a serious weapon when Rivers started playing at his prime. The system completely changed from LT"s team, to River's team once Marty left. Not to mention that his playoffs stats don't even tell half of the story. The only real bad playoff game he's had was versus the Jets 2010.

I'm not saying Rivers is better then Rodgers because he's not, Rodgers has that ring that separates them. I am defending the fact their stats are very similar and if it wasn't for Rodger's god like run last year in the playoffs, they'd be a tossup.

I chose Rivers because I'm going with what I know. I know that he is a top 5 QB and that he fits right in with the Chargers system.

Rushing isn't nitpicking. It's a big part of Rodgers' game. Rodgers has one bad playoff start, but his numbers are still impressive across 5 games, so you can't make that excuse for Rivers that he only had one bad game.

Oh man, somebody hit their head. ;)

How does one give props for an amazing catch without giving props to the QB that put the ball EXACTLY where it needed to be (we're talking the smallest of windows here) in the first place? In the clutchest of clutch situations, no less.

And yes, he played poorly in his last SB appearance. I don't care about the AFC title game because the real match for the AFC title happened a week earlier against a far superior Baltimore team and Ben was on the money. His stat-line was stellar and Youtube "3rd and 19" if you need an example of what makes him the superstar that he is. Intangibles do matter and he simply has something that the Tony Romo's of the word do not have.

Chargers fans glorify Phillip Rivers all the time like he's ****ing Peyton Manning. I don't get it honestly.

He's not even in the same breath as Rodgers, get over it.

Chargers will never win a Super Bowl with Norv there anyway, you can take it to the bank.

Rivers is in the top 5/6 QB's , wouldn't you agree . Im a Chargers fan , i would take Rodgers over Rivers any day of the week. Chargers fans are lucky to have Rivers instead of Eli Manning who didnt want any part of SDG.

    Top 5/6 could go like

    Brady
    Rodgers
    Manning
    Brees

I'm not saying it wasn't a great throw, or that he didn't come through on that drive, but the greater plays were made by Harrison and Holmes. If Holmes doesn't make that catch, we'd be talking about how Ben has played poorly in 3 Super Bowls.

It is amazing how one play can really alter the perception of a player/team.

Not when you've made it to the big dance three times.

Edit: And in all fairness, he didn't play poorly in SB XLIII. Game winning catch or not.

You are obviously jealous that you haven't had an above average Quarterback since who? Rich Gannon? Please you wish he was your QB. What credibility do you have anymore? You went on a hello kitty like rant saying Run DMC was the 2nd best RB (specifically ranking him above Foster) on the what 3rd week of the season? lol you had better arguments when the Raiders were at the bottom of the AFC west, quit talking so much ****.

All I said is that Rivers isn't near Rodgers level.

It is a fact, and apparently one that is too hard for you to deal with, what with your feeble Charger fan brain and all.

And all you have is weak rebuttals for me.

No TDs with a pick against the Arizona Cardinals would have gone down as playing poorly.

And yes, that play is huge in for his career. It is his career highlight that will be played over and over. Without it, you'd have people questioning his ability to play well in the big game.

That's a cute lisp you have there. Does your boyfriend like it?

And it wouldn't kill you to lay off the cheeseburgers for awhile.
