    Swoly. STFU.

If arjun telling a similar story and identifying a character in it by their race is the biggest issue you see in this thread, then you are far more despicable than I originally thought. I thought you were a clown. That's giving you way too much credit.

Amazing video. Impossible not to be inspired. F**king detractors who have to make it about themselves and their faggy emoticon schtick. Everyone should watch this story, and watch the company they keep.

When I was a sophomore in HS, in 2003, a kid from one of my classes, a junior, was shot in a similar gang initiation. The standard was to kill a white boy from the suburbs. They asked him for directions, on the most beautiful, calm, lush suburban street in Katy, and shot him at point blank range in the eye. He drove his car fifty feet and crashed into a mailbox where he passed. The shooter, and his accomplice, were 30 and 31 year old black males, and were arrested within days.

The sad truth here is that having anything, in a society where the divide between the haves and the have-nots is so deep, puts a target on your back.

Actually its the suburban upper to higher class blacks that are trying doing most of the most disgusting violent crimes ... They try and fit in to the usual urban myth... They dont realize that they have it better than most inner city blacks that they want to portray....Senseless acts of violence has no color crutch to me... I just wish they get whats comin to them before they rehabilitate themselves in jail or elsewhere and be at peace with what they did....

Crazy story. I think movies and games glamorizing gangsters and assassins have made our youth less empathetic.

swoly strikes again with his crap..

Great story and props to that kid for not resorting to violence. 35 years is way too little time for what that other kid did. He will be out by 50 but most likely sooner.

Honest question... In bad neighborhoods, why can't cops set up stakeouts through the night so crimes wouldn't be so rampant? I would rather have less gang violence than highways. I wouldn't even mind a policy that picked up anyone that is dressed like a gangster and out on the streets at 1 am, like they do in some small towns in Texas.

And what is up with the gang initiations, whatever happened to the 'jump ins'? I heard a couple of similar incidents on the ID channel. Pretty crazy stuff.

They are simply out numbered in the bad neighborhoods. I would hate to be a cop in a crappy area. The gangs dont have any respect for the police and will shoot them also.

Best thing for us normal folks to do is stay away from these areas. Just sucks for the folks that have to live in these areas and don't have much of a choice.

You here every week how gang members shoot random gunfire at cops in broad daylight.... They built a police station about 5 minutes where my mom stays... there are still crackheads walking around at night, auto theft , and alot of gang activity.... Only way people will change is when people will change.... A cop and a badge can only do so much.....

Incredible story. Life is so beautiful. I don't understand why anybody would want to take this gift away from somebody else for such a stupid, meaningless reason. OP - thanks for sharing it!

I can envision a point in the near future (relatively speaking, i.e. next 100 years), where the only place you won't be recorded will be in the absolute and complete privacy of your home (i.e. - rooms with no line of sight into them, and even then, may be infrared, see through, etc. cameras).

Just take the street view to the extreme. small cameras on all poles. on cars. on people's clothing. super cameras on satellites, etc. We know they already have a lot of this stuff in use for military, NSA, etc. As it goes, only a matter of time before the tech becomes so good, and cheap, it becomes ubiquitous.

meaning, you commit a crime, and it's on tape.

that will clearly be a deterrent.

That would be wonderful actually.... But the whole thing is privacy... may be an issue that cant be overcome

you would get push-back due to invasion of privacy, but it's coming for sure.

in the more distant future, though still on a relative basis not that far away (a few hundred years? probably much sooner, really) we will undoubtedly have the ability to record and instantly upload what we're seeing, as we're seeing it.

    but that's for another thread.

this kids story is amazing. as much as we like to attribute the violence to something - income inequality, gangs, whatever - it's all too easy sometimes to forget that some people are just bad people.

keep in mind the other family thought this kid was a coward for criminally pressing charges. it's a level of insane-ness (in a bad way) that I can't really comprehend.
