Without saying anything I know (pulling it out my arse, in other words), I'm waiting for a shoe to drop. Like suddenly people stop coming from the future and they have no idea why. They have no modern technology coming down the pipeline, aside from what they've already managed. Perhaps one or two folks do, but they're keeping it to themselves for a reason (fill in the blank!). Yeah, I like the premise of the show and also, along with the good Doctor, think it's better than Falling Skies, which I haven't completely given up on... yet.

The people no longer coming from the future.. .that would be interesting
Do they have any communication with the future?
I guess they would have too . . .to know when new people are coming.

I may not have payed enough attention, RR, but my understanding was that it's a one way trip and that there's no way to communicate, other than leaving a message at a place, and with a method, that could allow it to be found in the future. If I'm wrong, someone point that out, please!

They can definitely communicate because the cop guy asked the lead solider if he had contacted them yet about the sixers.

Also, there is no way to leave a message for the future. remember they are in a different timeline and the way they discovered it was by not be able to find things they sent back in time.

Unless that's a lie they're telling people, who might freak if they knew they were erasing the future by being in our past. (I love this stuff!)

My question would be . . How do they know new folx are coming.
I figure they will explain it later
[since ole boy was stuck for 183 days. . . maybe they will say
they get new people every 183 days or something]

Years on either side could be seconds on the other side
So . . . .Basically .. . people can be sent back .. 20 yrs from when the family left
but arrive in the past 2 days later.

    That will be interesting :D

I like the premise. has alot of promise. . . but will they find it and
    let it play out.

They have 20 million years before that happens.

They are in a different timeline.
They are in a different timeline.
They are in a different timeline.
They are in a different timeline.

This was a major point of the pilot. The braniac girl had a whole segment talking about timelines just so these types of questions wouldn't be asked all series long.

What if it's not for a million years in The Past's future? Two million? Twenty million? Think about it. Who would care? The history of humanity that's worth mentioning is measured in tens of thousands of years, so really, who cares? Another aspect to consider is that you if knew something like that was going to go down in a time frame possible to consider part of your future in many generations, wouldn't that concentrate the mind something fierce? Then extinction is not some esoteric exercise to ponder in a class at college, but a certain doom that must be faced. That must be, along with everything else (dinosaurs and the other things yet to be discovered in this new/old world), faced and conquered with the level of technology that allowed you to go back to the past as the base on which to build. Or (more likely, but who knows?) is humanity overwhelmed by the challenge not only of getting out of the way of eventual extinction (leave the planet if facing a planet caused extinction, or finding a "safe" spot on the planet to hold out until things calm down), or getting the cause out of the way (that large object with Earth in its sights... easier to deal with, in my opinion). Overwhelmed by the challenge of facing a wildly dangerous world, and sinking into a new/old Dark Age, where the original time travelers fade into myth, our myths of today, perhaps?

I could go on (I love this stuff!), because what makes this kind of science fiction fun are the endless possibilities, limited only by imagination and how far that imagination can take what we know, or think we know, about science.

Unless they are being fed a line!

I still don't understand how they can go back in time without cell phone towers.

Sounds good. I haven't watched a single episode because if it does survive I think it'll be another one of those Lost mind****s.

But thanks for answering my question ;)

I'm caught up with the series as of last night. The bad writing is starting to wear on me. I don't mind the 'filler' episodes if they're good sci-fi, but the plot holes are huge. I still have hopes for this show, but come on, Fox. Smart writing = fans.

I actually like it and I liked last night's episode. It's not gritty sci-fi. It's family oriented sci-fi with plot lines that simple enough for the simple viewer to follow each week yet at the same time has a developing plotline that is hidden for the more sophisticated viewer to ponder on.

    Well said.

This show still has me hooked, for now. But I'm beginning to think it won't get any better. If there is a gripping story arc ahead, it needs to come soon.

Yeah, I'm still watching, but the writing appears to be getting worse. Not a good sign. As much as this thing must cost to produce, you'd think they'd spend the bucks needed for good scripts. They better wake up and smell the coffee pretty soon.

Actually thought last night's was one of the better episodes even if they did rip off the little girl directly from Aliens....

    I'm intrigued as to
who, from the future, wants Taylor dead...and how in the hell do they communicate back and forth (well...I know how messages are brought into Terra Nova...but how do they get back). Will be interesting to see if anything extremely outlandish gets written into the script (i.e. aliens populating the planet). I'll stick around...especially when MNF is crap.
