So far . . not caring for the storyline .

Already I don't like this family. They are a bunch of arrogant CRIMINALs. Rules don't apply to them evidently. . . He was a basically Dirty Cop. Now this is suppose to be out 'Heroes'????

I mean . . . this is like someone jumping to the front of the bread line in a starving country . . ..

The gate was guarded by Abbot and Costello?

I disagree. If my child was going to die unless I broke the law, you better believe I'd break almost any law that didn't involve hurting someone else. Did they break the law? yes. Are they actually criminals? that's debatable. Was Rosa Parks a criminal that turned out to be a hero?

They broke the law in having the child.
The shows no regard from the law at every step of the way
    They had the child
    They hid the child
They then smuggled the child to the past
they break dad out of prison
and smuggle him to the past
immediately . . the son doesn't give a d*mn about the rules there
The Father bucks the Leadership in his 1st meeting

overall they pretty ****ty folx who do what the ***** they want
    regardless of the rules. . . .

I am willing to bet the dad becomes a 'sixer' by year 2.
or at least sympathize with them
I mean seriously . .they don't give a d*mn about the rules either

Agreed. Sounds like a pretty ****** law if you ask me that deserves to be broken.

You can watch it on Hulu, that's what I just did.

As for my thoughts on the show it was alright. It was just the pilot though so it just being alright is expected.

Had plenty of action, I don't think it was too bad like many here are saying. The characters are cliche but it's only been one episode. Characters usually get better as a series goes along not in one episode.

I wonder though what happened to the little girl when they took her away? Seems kinda important for them to just bypass...I'm kinda more interested in what happened to Earth and what's going on there then Dinoland.

As for the Dinos it's amazing that not ONE of the kids died. The girl that ran away I'm guessing the Dino slashed her and she managed to shoot it and make it scurry off or something...

I watched it on my DVR yesterday. I was surprised they spent so much on production while the script was so flimsy. It's not bad, it just wasn't that great. I set it to record but I won't be upset, nor do I think I'll miss key info if I miss an episode or two.

No kidding, it's a pilot episode so I'm willing to give them some slack. Also, It'd be nice to have some scifi on network TV, I think this can be solid.

    Watched ep2 last night.
Silly episode, 98% filler. Oh noes birds. And their high-tech huts aren't self contained Dino-proof fortresses? Come on.

I still have high hopes for the show though.

I haven't watched any episodes yet but this statement is pretty funny. If they were so cookie cutter then wouldn't it be painfully obvious who was good or bad? The bad guy has an eye patch, etc.

Actually it was more like the movie Pitch Black with less fatal dino birds, like someone mentioned above, it was a filler episode.

I didn't hate it or love it, I just want them to get back to the mythos stuff with Lang's character and the sixers, that's all a lot more attractive to me storywise.

The storyline and script have to improve or this show is dead. I haven't given up yet but episode 2 wasn't encouraging. It's corny.

2nd episode got very strong ratings so I think it'll stick around, these early episodes really seem to be casting a wide net to cover as many demos as possible.

I like it. It is a little corny to be sure though. They are definitely not trying to be edgy sci-fi which is strange since it's on Fox. I expected a little more edginess to it.

Anyway, I like Sci-fi enough that I will continue watching. Didn't think the mom was attractive at first but she has grown on me fast.

Only quip I have with the show really right now is the inconsistency of how dangerous the animals are.

Example 1: From the first episode the slashers butchered a couple of armed soldiers. They then proceeded to merely cause flesh wounds to a couple of kids.

Example 2: These birdosaurs managed to brutally mangle and kill three armed soldiers, one of them in a vehicle. Then when thousands of them descend on Terra Nova, they merely cause flesh wounds to unarmed civilians.

If that theme continues I will be unhappy. Star Trek days of the "only people ever in danger are the unnamed characters in different clothes that you've never seen before" are gone. If every episode involves "random soldier we've never seen" dying and then all the other members of the cast being "nicked up" by the same creatures...meh.

Agree, although we need to be careful about using spoiler tags for things people may not have seen. I'm a huge science fiction fan (I'm sure everyone is shocked), and time travel is a classic SF plot line, which has been done a lot in the past in novels and films, so I was looking forward to this. It has potential, so I'll keep watching, but they need to get better writers. The estate of Alfred Hitchcock should sue them for that last episode!

I'm among the few here that seems to like the show. It's not great, but it's good enough to watch. I think it's better than Falling Skies (which may not be saying much to some here... lol). The "birds" episode was out of left field, but I see they're building all kinds of plot lines early, unlike Falling Skies.

I like it, too. Has a Stargate vibe (not SGU).
