I need help with a potential trade..I'm playing in a standard ESPN fantasy football league with default settings. Ive been offered cam newton and roddy white for calvin johnson. Should I take it? I initially thought about going for it..but i just don't know if roddy white will post the numbers he got from the previous season due to julio jones

    Here is my line:
    QB: schaub, flacco
RB: Foster, Hillis, Daniel Thomas, Kendall hunter, tim hightower
WR: megatron, wes welker, torrey smith
    TE: witten and hernandez
Lion's def and robbie gould as my kicker

    Thanks!

if I'm going to do one of those trades, it'd definitely be the first one.

but I'm not sure Stafford is enough of an upgrade over Manning to warrant giving up Forte for Torain.

Detroit's D has only had two good weeks defensively, it took 2 defensive TDs to make one of them.

In an 8-team league, them being available isn't surprising. 2 of us play defenses based on matchups. I do wonder why the one guy continues to play NE defense every week, and another continues to hold onto Philly and NO.

I was offered Andre Johnson for Fred Jackson.

Only reason I'm even considering this is because I'm so loaded at RB:

MJD, Michael Turner, Beanie Wells, Ahmad Bradshaw, and Fred Jackson

    I'm also thin at WR:

Brandon Lloyd, Brandon Marshall, Desean Jackson, Nate Washington.

    What should I do? Counter?

LOL Yeah I suppose if you took away any fantasy players two best weeks so far they'd suck.

Detroit is top 3 in defensive points on Yahoo, so, that's good enough for me. I'd be shocked if they didn't finish top 5.

    Thinking about counter offering..

    Give:
    Ben Rothlisberger
Eric Decker or Marques Colston (not sure who yet)
    Matt Forte

    Get:
    Matt Stafford
    Larry Fitzgerald
    Ahmad Bradshaw

Should I send out this deal?

My starting QB is Eli Manning, and my other RB is Peyton Hillis. Forte has been carrying my team up to this point. This guy is leading our league with Aaron Rodgers and Darren McFadden, but Bradshaw is his 2nd RB so he's looking for an upgrade there... I can't see sacrificing my stud without getting a stud like Fitz in return, especially when he's not giving up his starting QB. Surprisingly, Manning is 7th in total points and Stafford is 5th... so it's not like it's a huge upgrade for me, either.

I've also worked up an alterantive offer...

    Give:
    Eli Manning
    Steve Smith
    Peyton Hillis

    Get:
    Matt Stafford
    Brandon Marshall
    Ahmad Bradshaw

10% of Yahoo leagues don't own Detroit D. The 49ers D has scored more than Detroit's, but are also available. The only team they've held below 20 points are the Chiefs.

As of now, I only consider the Jets and Ravens as every week defenses.

Always fill a bye spot. Cut the kicker, and pick up a new one. Who do you have on your bench, and which defenses are available?

Kickers are expendable. Drop Cundiff, get Henery or Olindo Mare (or Nick Folk) if you can get them on WW.

Don't drop Romo. Forget about his real world struggles -- the guy is a fairly consistent fantasy producer. Find someone else to drop and get a fill-in QB.

An intriguing trade -- it does upgrade you at QB, at the cost of a bit of a downgrade at WR. I think it's a little risky though in that you'd be counting on Cam Newton to consistently produce at a high level, and giving up the enormous reliability of Calvin Johnson. I'd be more inclined to stand pat honestly, but perhaps counter with an offer that doesn't make you part ways with CJ or Welker. I can see why you would want to make the trade knowing that Schaub's value takes a hit with AJ's injury, but you could still roll with Flacco and be just fine.

I wouldn't take the deal as it currently stands.

the thing is calvin johnson's great success this season also depends on stafford staying healthy... which makes this trade hard for me. :(

Newton's numbers are not high enough over Schaub's to justify that trade.

And White is suffering just as much as Atlanta's offense.

It's tempting, but ultimately you're better off as is.

Play the matchups between Schaub and Flacco and let Welker and Megatron keep beasting for you.

other players of interest on his team: rashard mendenhall, ryan mathews, wells, vincent jackson, julio jones..

should i make a counter for mendenhall? Say BJBE + Calvin Johnson for newton, white, and mendenhall? or am i dreaming?

I agree with what the previous poster said about White -- he's not the same this year, and I don't like Mendenhall. I'd be more interested in Wells or Mathews quite frankly, but I can't even say for sure that either of those guys is an upgrade over Peyton Hillis. This trade does not really make your team better than it is now. Roll with Flacco and forget it.

And no, Calvin Johnson's production isn't that dependent on Stafford's health. Dude was beasting all the time Stafford was injured last year, regardless of who was throwing to him.
