The VY nutswingers make all us UT fans look bad. I had Vince is god on my back window in 06, but even I saw he stopped getting better, and wasn't good enough.

As for Schaub, a guy mentioned it earlier, we are unlikely to upgrade. He could be better, but he's far from a liability. He's pretty damn good, not elite, but good.

    Rodgers
    Brees
    Brady
    Manning (healthy)
    Rivers
    Roethlisberger

Those are the only guys you can argue are ahead of him.

Vick, Cutler, Eli, Romo, Ryan none of these guys are better than Schaub IMO.

A team can certainly win with Schaub at QB.

Now more than ever, we need Schaub to limit his mistakes. With the emergence of a seemingly legitimate defense, we can settle for punts.

Btw, Hartman played exceptionally well in the second half of the Pittsburgh game.

I am just glad we have finally gotten away from the Schaub is elite nonsense.....and you guys have come around to what I was saying all along.

It takes a while, but eventually, folks get there.

You said Colt McCoy would be better than Schaub. Reality will not get there eventually.

You have been wrong on so many things relating to well...almost everything. But I'll take it on myself to pwn you some more on Schaub.

Why is it always "Young led the Titans to the playoffs" instead of "The Titans led Young to the playoffs"? :)

Hartman has been a huge steal for us. Next to Watt, he's the been the most impactful rookie on the team. Reed hasn't done much, but it's going to be hard for him to get any snaps the way Mario and Barwin are beasting.

I actually think Colt can be pretty good even though his stats are way behind Schaub's at this point.

He's kinda the same as Schaub in that he doens't have a strong arm, but he's smart. Although his arm might actually be weaker than Schaub's.

He's not perfect; he'll make the occassional bad pass. But Schaub has actualy been very, very good in crucial situations. Remarkably good, in fact. I identified 19 "close and late" situations since 2007 and can find five instances where Schaub failed - and of those five, they include Schaub-led rallies in Arizona (when CB was stuffed at the 1), in Indianapolis (when KB missed a game-tying FG) and against Baltimore, which never would have been OT without Schaub.

Note: The list does not include this year. He was pretty bad against the Saints. I have the list if anyone is interested.

I never recall people saying schaub was elite...he did put up some elite type numbers but I don't think anyone put him in the Peyton/brady type category.

Pretty much the argument has always been that he is a top 10 QB.

dude, you're hands down the biggest texans homer on here... no one is going to agree with you that schaub is an elite QB, elite meaning on the same the level as manning/brady/rogers/rivers/brees. no one. and no amount of linking to the bleacher report is going to change that.

he's a good, above average QB. end of story.

Well, my list had 17 from 2008-2010.

What did you find in 2007?

He's elite enough to lead a team into the playoffs and possibly win a SB. Nobody thought that Brees or Rodgers were truly elite until they won the big game. You can't argue with the numbers that I posted.

You call Rivers elite. He has had plenty of weapons with a solid D to match yet hasnt gotten to a SB. I'm not saying that Schaub is on the level of Brady or Manning. Don't be silly, dude.

Are they behind at this point? Was Schaub starting in his 2nd year?

Going to have to disagree with you there. I ranked Rodgers as 4th best behind Brees/Manning/Brady at the beginning of last season, and Brees has certainly been playing at a God mode level pretty much ever since he got to NO.

What a total nerd! Oh, wait.....

    October 7, 2007
    @ Miami
    Score: 19-19 (tied)
    Time Remaining: 1:33
    Result: Win, 22-19
Details: With 3 time-outs, Schaub completes 4/5 for 58 yards, setting-up 57-yard game winning FG with :06 remaining.

So which one are you missing, I wonder? Without exhaustively listing them all, I have:
    2008: 3
    2009: 7
    2010: 8

(I'm going to guess you passed on the scintilating 2009 win in St. Louis- amirite?)

It's kind of a maddening list because....... good golly, that's just far too many "WTF" losses in a two-year span. It ultimately depends on your perspective, experience, patience, etc., (ie glass half full/empty) but man, oh, man... this team is literally thisclose to having *radically* different last two years.

But I think the larger point is valid: if you win, your performance is elevated. If Schaub has another 4,000-yard, 25-12 TD/INT with a QBR of 90+ *and* the Texans win 11-12 games and make some postseason noise, people are going to start judging him much differently.

It's just hard to fire anyone up about a pass-happy QB on a losing team.

Yeah, I didn't feel like reliving the St. Louis clunker, heh.

And yes, can you imagine how people would view Schaub had the rest of the Texans not pooped their pants in all those games?

We'd be calling him a top 5 QB, probably somewhere right under the Superbowl winners like Manning, Brady, Brees, Rodgers. He'd be right in the middle of the Rivers/Vick sandwich.
