Oh, so Hasheem Thabeet is guaranteed to be a good starting center in the next 5 years now right? Sure, a lot of people are quick to dismiss him and give him unwarranted criticism, but some people have their heads so far up thabeet's ass that they think he could become the next Mutombo. Height is not everything. I'd take the shorter Patterson over the taller Hill anyday.
What about them...? Please don't tell me you are about to say they are championship quality starting centers.
So in 5 years, you want a 33 year old 6 ft 6 Chuck Hayes as your starting center. And hopefully a Thabeet that has progressed enough to be good enough to even make it into the rotation as your backup center?
You're forgetting Hill, Patterson and Motie. Thabeet is just a piece of our big man puzzle. My quote was meant to imply 2 rings within the next 5 years, not in 5years. I'll be sure to simplify next time.
Thats... even worse. So you think, this current roster. Right now. Within the next 5 years. Is capable of winning TWO rings? Have you seen Hill play? He was appalling last season. Patterson was the only player on the team who we could say has the potential to be a very good starting PF. Motie? We don't even know how good he is because we never saw him play. The only think we know about him is he was cut from the national team roster. Do you even listen to what you are saying. This current team is good enough to win TWO rings within the next 5 years. Do you have any idea how far away we are from the the talent level of say... Grizzlies, Heat or Thunder? Some of our young players don't have near the talent, killer instinct, or even the brains to match up with the up coming teams competiting for the title. Our best player is Lowry, but he isn't even top 5 in his position, yet.
I am confused then. I never said PG was the strongest, just the strongest position spot the Rockets have. You disagreed with it being our strongest, but go on to seemingly discuss how the other positions are even weaker (exception maybe being PF). So are you saying that they are not strong compared to other teams at PG or that you believe another position is stronger? If the latter, which spot do you think is better than our PG at the time? I am very interested to hear your opinion. Height =/= Skill or usefulness Patterson is our most promising bet and Morris has not played an NBA team, so banking on him is not a wise investment. As far as Donuts and Thabeet go, Donuts I can understand the enthusiasm for, but Thabeet?!? The guy has been a bench dweller his entire NBA career with not even a shred of potential, just height. The kid cannot even jump without falling on his ass when he lands. He is a very raw project for a team who can afford to wait around for him to finally get it.
Donuts.....the usual corny nickname of the season. There is always one nickname per season that makes me cringe.
There were good results when Lowry was out. Won't happen though. It sounds as if Lowry has gotten better over the offseason.
Yes, we would all like a bit more height and offensive skills at center, but to be fair, last season Chuck really became an asset at that position and was outplaying his counterpart the majority of the time, especially after the all star break when he was putting up 9-10 ppg, 10-11, rpg, 4 apg, and 1.5 spg. With his awesome defense, and the strides he made in not being a liability on the scoring end, I can realistically see last year's Chuck Hayes starting for a lot of teams.
If they could finally get the season started, i think you will all be pleasantly surprised at the team that we have.
