chenjy9, the personal attacks are silly & childish. MJ never went deep into the playoffs w/o quitter.
Don't try to call people out then with your silly and childish comments. Also, with the quality of your responses to me, I can only assume you are trying to troll or genuinely lacking reading comprehension. MJ may not have made it deep into the playoffs, but he sure made it farther than T-Mac has in his entire career without the help of Pippen.
0-7. 0. Nada. Zilch. Out of 7 tries. Damn pathetic anyway you slice it. McGrady is synonymous with failure and will be the benchmark for future stars when comparing failed careers.
Also, I only retaliate when people try to call me out with stupid arguments like they are trying to prove something. I would rather intelligently discuss and debate basketball and basketball players, not deal with some poster purposely or unintelligently taking things far out of context. Now if you come back with an intelligent argument regarding T-Mac and not one centered around personal achievements that Rockets fans don't give a damn about, then I will be more than happy to have a civil debate with you.
My problem is people like you with apparently borderline illiteracy when it comes to reading comprehension or purposely take things far out of context to support their own deranged arguments. My arguments are backed up by facts. Yours are not even arguments, just either trolling or barely readable posts. There is a huge difference here. I am done with you joker.
This type of crap and personal insult is what you would expect in a thread that mentions McGrady and Hakeem.
Mentioning Hakeem and McGrady in the same sentence in a positive light to T-Mac is tantamount to sacrilegious insult to the Dream himself. One man shouldered the hopes and dreams of an entire city on and crossed the finish line first. The other man is a first round virgin for every team he has played for and burned bridges with those teams. He was booed in Toronto. He was booed in Orlando. He was booed in Houston. Even as a bench player in NY and Detroit reports had him causing issues and pulling himself in and out of lineups. I should also mention that Houston built Hakeem a statue. The only way T-Mac can get a statue is if he commissions the project himself or his fans do.
Are we talking about legacy or objective look at how well a player played? Legacy, I agree with you. How well someone played taken in an abstract manner, I disagree. I do believe non-centers who "carry" their team to finals like AI or Kidd or even Lebron get huge benefit from inferior competition. There's a reason why those teams all got slapped around like little girls in the finals. Like I said, IMO those teams weren't all that great and eventually lost convincingly to true Finals-worthy teams. Of course, in your view, they lost because their stars lost their ability to "carry" those teams magically in the finals somehow. It's simply something we agree to disagree here.
I am not saying that in order for stars to carry their team, they have to make it to the finals. I am simply saying that T-Mac has failed to carry his teams as he has never gotten them out of even the first round. Stars carry their team when they are already at their best and when the teams need that win, he goes BEYOND his best and turns on that extra gear to "carry" their team across the victory line. Good examples are: - Hakeem embarrassing Robinson in the WCF - Jordan's flu game (Game 5) during the finals - Magic Johnson starting at center for injured Jabbar and getting 42 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists, and three steals to lead his team to victory - LBJ scoring 29 of Cavs' last 30 points to beat the Pistons in double OT while his team was trying to get to the finals - Wade willed his team to a comeback against the Mavs in 2006 by averaging almost 40 points for those comeback wins Those are just some examples of course. I wasn't saying that T-Mac had to carry his teams to the finals for me to acknowledge he did in fact carry any team. I don't acknowledging him as every carrying a team, because he never took them out of even the first round. If T-mac had gotten our Rockets team to the finals, he would be revered almost like Dream. T-Mac performed the best, but that was because he was the best player on our team. However, he has never IMHO actually carried the team, at least not in the way we really needed.
Dwight Howard is the only reason the Magic have been in the playoffs and gotten to the Eastern Conference Finals. Besides, you gotta put the team your back doe
More like no body-checking rule. Iverson would have been in the morgue once Chuck Daly's Detroit bad boys would have been done with him.
Some of those hits he took going up against the Bad Boys really looked looked vicious, especially once they invoked the "Jordan" rules. I regularly saw 3 people smash into him midair. Didn't stop Jordan from continuing to drive though as opposed to settling for jumpers all day.
