    How can you not go to jail if you get caught with a gun? Here in Canada we get 3 years in federal prison if you get caught with illegal possession of a firearm even if you have no criminal record.

    Ya but here in Canada, killers also just have to plea insanity to get back into society lol... and excluding what you stated, most of our punishments are weaker than the states

    Wouldn't this defense lawyer be more likely to get the setence he wants if he doesn't go around bragging about what a softie this Circuit Court judge is?

    One time TAMU lost to UT, the result -- a better bowl game for TAMU because UT got to go to a BCS game and TAMU took the Cotton Bowl. Same situation basically. BCS, US law system -- both flawed.

    Arbitrary.

    Shoot yourself in NY, go to jail, shoot yourself in Texas, they make you a deputy.

    Its amazing that in NY, Plaxico Burress gets years in prison for illegal gun possession, but they are talking about the possibility of avoiding jail time for the same offense in Michigan.

    Plaxico shot himself in the leg in a night club. He could have seriously hurt himself or an innocent person.

    If this had happened in Texas, can't help but wonder if the judge would simply pull out his own Smith and Wesson or whatever and take a picture with the culprit. :)
