OK I wanna get 2k12 but recently found out that there's a lot of online features from 2k11 that won't be on the new game and how they screwed the Rockets over on their ratings this year. Not feeling like I wanna spend $65 on a half as$ game that I really only play online when I can just DL it right now, for free...

So I'm asking, what's the easiest, safest, and best guide(possibly a vid) out there to getting your 360 modded without getting it banned from Microsoft? What are other things you can do on a modded 360 besides play backups? Note that I've modded other consoles like the Wii and PSP handheld with little problems but never modded a 360 of course. So can a fellow CFer and maybe some other noobs here too, get some quality info to get us on the way? And I know their's others on here that have done this too(ItsMyFault?) :p.

There is no safe way bro. if you want to mod any system there will always be the risk of getting the ban hammer.

Now is not the good time to mod a 360 because most, if not all, new 360 games like gow3 are being release in the new XGD3 format and currently there are no firmware available that can run it.

Some systems there's no risk or very very little risk at all. I know there's people out there with modded 360s that still use them online so there's gotta be some loophole or some way to avoid the ban hammer.

Getting another 360 tho, is not something right now I'm gonna do.

The way you get banned is playing a game that hasn't been released yet, like 2k12, and have the online access. Simply disconnect from your internet when you play it until October 4th. I had some guy near reliant stadium mod mine for $20. Works great.

My Xbox is modded. It's really much easier to take it to someone off of craigslist if you're serious about doing it because you have to order a few things from the internet in order to mod it with xecuter effectively. You can find someone on Houston's craigslist for $20. As far as getting banned goes, there's what's called a Stealth Patch that you apply to games. It doesn't guarantee you from getting away with playing pirated games... but it does make it fairly undetectable. What you don't want to do though (if you get it modded) is download games and play them before they release. That's the easiest way to get banned. You're also gonna need dual-layer DVDs to burn games on (unless you want to do the harddrive method, which I'm not sure about) and those are a bit pricey. From my experience, it's kinda worth the modding if you don't abuse it. Just watch out for games like Battlefield 3, Gears of War 3, and MW3... those kinds of games can sometimes get you banned regardless of the Stealth Patch.

Is their a way to just softmod the 360 to run backups or do you have to modify the actual hardware inside the box? I don't want to go through the trouble of breaking it down and having to solder a mod chip on the board. If it's like that then I'll just wait a couple of days for the game to come out cause I really don't play many other games.

I think you just plug it to your cpu via HDMI or the RCA cables, and install new firmware on it. Only takes 10-15 minutes, but its easier to get someone on craigslist. The guy that did mine charged $20 and I bought 2 games from him for $5 a piece. $30 total, which is still less than half the price of one game.
