It makes sense. Apart from his offensive clutch ratings, all his stats (defense, rebounding, passing, dribbling, shooting, dunking, vertical, speed. etc) are gonna be super high.
I can be a bit of a numbers geek, but I never understood this obsession with videogame player ratings. As long as the component ratings are more or less correct, and the player behaves like his real-life counterpart, that's all that matters.
Lebron's rating is pretty accurate. Dirk should be a lot higher, like a 90 or something. all the other ratings a pretty accurate.
Problem is we pay them and they explicitly advertize a feature called "NBA Today" and "2kInsider", saying they will update the ratings, accessories, etc. daily/weekly with solid data. Now if you advertize this feature and say ridiculous things like "he's a man of real knowledge that puts much time into scouting the players" you have to understand that the customers are a bit angry when the dude touches like 5-8 players per week(sometimes no update in 10 days), these rating-updates 80% of the time don't make any sense if you take a look at real stats and advanced data. Then you see how he clearly overrates certain players and teams...Miami...cough...Lebron...cough...Wade cough cough, sorry I had to cough guys. He has his own blog and people provide him with detailed stats AND tell him how the ratings would be more accurate, what accessories or shots are off. Yet he barely listens or reacts, even banned some people off his blog when they criticized him(seen that, people had no insults, just objective criticizm). What the hell is this guy doing 24/7 when his part-time job is to be the Insider for one of the biggest sports gaming companies right now and with millions of people trusting him? We have guys on 2kshare that spend 30minutes per week and create 10x better rosters. So please don't say it's an obsession, but when paying lots of bucks and supporting the company I expect their advertized features to be reliable.
Fairly accurate. Funny how people don't see Noah rated in the 80s. Dude is just a pest defensively. He's everywhere. We would love him here. I'm disappointed in Lowry. I thought his consistent 3 point shot from last season would have him break 80. Not that it matters as long as he is hitting the wide open 3s. I hope they added the Kevin Martin pump fake for the free throw. I also hope Yao is in the game in one way or another.
Sorry no it doesn't. The ratings could still be accurate as overall rating is more focused on the players comparison with the prototypical player at the position. Despite being an 85, Dirk has a perfect mid range game(99). I dunno how anyone can say Wade or Lebron are overrated. What can't they do? They play fantastic defense, can shoot, can run, can drive, can rebound. Hell, Bosh is an 80. That seems harsh rather than Miami jockriding
Even if a player was a constant 80 (or whatever) throughout the season, just because of randomness there's going to be peaks and valleys with his stats. That in itself isn't a reason to be regularly tweaking his rating. If there's a clear trend over a large sample of games, ok, but fiddling with the ratings too frequently would be a bad idea.
Guys you obviously don't get that I'm talking all ratings, not just OVR. And I've been playing straight since 2k6, so please don't come up with randomness and little amount of games. Take the time and scroll through the ratings, there's just no explanation or logic behind them. There's absolutely no way you can defend 2k when actually looking at it. Please leave the dumb OVR our of this conversation and strictly look at attributes like zone, mid, threes, rebounding, blocking, dunking, steals, vert, clutch, etc. I wrote detailed posts for Sy in his blog and at 2kforums and splitted them up team by team, player by player. Before defending the crap he does and saying things liek the ratings are solid, take a few minutes and look at one or two teams. Check the players % on certain attributes, let's say 3pt%. Imma just quote a post I made in the 2kforums to show the problem: "You can ignore this issue and talk release and all dat, but if I as a nba-fan go to the first team roster, see B. Jennings with 82 on 3 while he had a 32.3%, skip to Salmons who is rated 81 but shot 37.9%, proceed to Delfino who is 80 but shot 37.0%, see Dooling 80 with 34.6%. Way off, right? Now let's see...Boykins rated 72(10 points lower than Jennings) but shootig 31.7%. How does a 0.6% difference justify a 10 point gap? Seriously, how can you people still defend 2k and say it's about releases? Next team, Rose rated 79 with 33,2% while Deng is 77 with 34.5% and Bogans same with 38.0%. Watson is 73 with 39.3%!" How can you say these ratings are solid or go by any logic? It's a joke. Imma quote another post I made: "Many of the guys like Deng, Rose, Jennings, Salmnos have a pretty similar amount of fgs. Same with Boykins, Dooling, etc. I made pretty detailed posts about other rosters in the past and took everything into account, 2k is way off and doesn't involve any logic. Take a look at the rosters, ratings, fg% and 3pt%, amount of shots and you'll see insane discrepancies on every team. Of course we anticipate his rosters as you have to use them for the online modes and we are anxious to see if he took advice and revamped the ratings we gave him. Yet we gettin disappointed every single update. Even if the 3pt% differences aren't that dramatic if you know the releases, again, we paid 2k for a product that is supposed to have a insider that adjusts the rosters, ratings, looks and layup/shot packages according to reality. They advertise daily/weekly changes yet the guy barely touches ish and doesn't know anything about stats or tendencies." Please reply and tell me how you don't see how ridiculous 2kinsider is.
Monta Ellis = 83 Kevin Martin = 79 it really doesn't matter that much if you know how to play with them anyway. They better have fixed KMarts shot thought
