you say that like it's a bad thing. Texans fan's just want to playoffs first and foremost.

But, once in the playoffs anything can happen...look at that the seahawks did last year.

I saw a post in the game thread from someone saying Schaub was the right QB to get us to the playoffs, but not to win more than 1 game once we get there. LOL. One thing at a time.

Didn't he tell us that a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend that is entrenched in the highest ranks of NFL scouts, said to him that teams had figured out the zone blocking?

You're getting way ahead of yourself here. Whether we play the Jets, Bills, or Patriots in the first round, the fact is, we made it to the first round. How about we talk about match-ups AFTER we clinch a playoff spot?

If the season ended today we'd get a first round bye. The Texans are #2 in the AFC right now. :)

Sometimes teams do have it figured out. Slaton's sophomore year I was under the impression that zbs was a thing in the past. I realize now that was an overreaction to a catastrophic drop in Slaton's personal effectiveness as an RB, but sometimes teams do figure it out. Look at the Giants game from last year in week 5. Facing big DLs is a weakness of this system, but they were also putting guys in the right spot to stuff the cutback.

There will always be a game here or there where a team has problems running the ball, no matter what they do. But yeah, the giants destroyed the texans with their defensive front and the texans do have a tough time with those teams with very powerful defensive lines but most teams do. The texans also gave up on the run because they were behind 14 - 0 early...they only ran the ball 15 times.

To hell with a thread jinx. Either they can man up and finally make the playoffs with everything laid out perfectly or they are the b****es that we thought they were.

I'll happily sign up for first round playoff fodder for this season.

Next year, we can improve upon that.

    question :

If the texans make the playoffs, but Schaub has a terrible game and the texans lose in first round, are you the type of person to be happy because they made the playoffs, or are you the type of person that would say "nice season, but schaub clearly cant beat a good team on the road lets trade him"?

I think Kubiak is like 1-18 against good teams on the road.I saw a twitter about that today. Most of that is with schaub.

After reading this thread, its clear that most fans have the same thought process of the owner. You are content if they compete and first round fodder. Whereas people like Rex Ryan,Jerry Jones, etc, would call that a failure, and expect nothing short of superbowl.

I think thats the main reason why the Texans are who they are. They try,but not to aggressively because as long as they compete ,all is well. Case in point, Kubiak not going for it on 4th and 2 against a high power saints team. Kubiak is content with field goals even if it means losing because he "took the sure thing and played it safe". That helps him sleep at night. Playing it safe and failing is okay with him, and you guys.

Winners take risk. Kubiak doesnt. Winners dont want second place. For all you laughing that schaub cant win a superbowl,he cant even get into the playoffs unless every team in the divison is injured or rebuilding. What makes you think he can carry this team on his back to a victory on the road in the playoffs when he cant even do it in the regular season and never has done it.

Ravens game last year was the epitome of schaubs career. He can wow you. He can put up 500 yards, he can bring the team back, but in the end will make a stupid decision in the 4th that costs the victory. Hes done it alot so now I call it a pattern. I think its 50/50 schaub/kubiak fault.
