He did - but both games he trotted out there just to suck hard. 2 yards a carry isn't going to work unless the NFL goes to 6 downs.

Appreciate all the hard work from Steve, but it was definitely time. Hope he lands on his feet.

I have a good feeling about OB27, very happy for him, too.

Little Shanahan in Washington will probably want to take a flier.

So, does anyone have that video of Steve Slaton catching that kickoff at the one yardline and running out of bounds? That was definitely his last straw. He was horrible at kick returner.

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
    Ahahahahahah!
Slaton is a joke. He doesn't know how to run at all. Runs right into the defense 9 times out of 10 and then fumbles the rest.

And btw his second season was not just a fumbling issue. He just straight up sucked. He had no moves, it was either get lucky and run as fast as possible hoping not to get hit; or running right into the defense and getting taken down.

Uhh, he was a very capable 3rd down back... you'd rather have Slaton?

By what accounts would you call him terrible?? He was an average back who was able to pick up yards. He doesn't have the break-away speed you want in your every-down backs, but he's definitely serviceable as a 3rd down back. I'd much rather have him on the roster than Slaton.

With that being said, I like Steve, and I hope he lands somewhere.

Always amazes me how fans can have so much vitriol for a player.

The writing was on the wall when Kubes called a valuable timeout in a close game to allow Foster to rest before a third down play.

Seven carries in 3 games isn't a lot of opportunity for a former #1 back to "find a rhythm"....but the Texans are seeing him every day in practice (when he is healthy enough to do so)....clearly they feel more comfortable with Chris O getting his reps (or are equally comfortable and want to save a few bucks).

I was hoping Steve would round back into form and be a third down back who would rip off those 15-30 yard screen passes he scorched the league with that one year.

It's a shame the Texans had Slaton mess with his bodytype so much after his rookie season.

Unrelated, but this made me think I wonder what Dominick Davis is up to these days. It's a shame he had so many injury problems, he coulda been a good one.

This. He lost all athleticism after he bulked up and seems like he never got it back. Injuries didn't help. But he wasn't the same after '08 physically.

feel bad for the guy. he was a beast in college a WV along with Pat White. He had a breakout rookie year and then the injury/fumbles came. He definitely was not the same player after the injuries.
