America didn't cause the hikers capture, but their treatment was excused because of America's actions. That's straight from the hikers personal experience.

American can't violate human rights and then turn around and lambast others who do the exact same thing. It's one of the reasons the Army has been against torture of POW's for many decades. They don't want US POW's to suffer the torture.

You don't have to buy it, but people who've been held prisoner by Iran, and the US Army buys into it.
