No doubt. Better then AP for sure because he can catch out of the backfield. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_y...orning_rush_darren_mcfadden_breaks_out_092611
Not only is he faster than ****, but he's big enough to level a DB trying to go low on him. Ask Eric Weddle. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/G4cUgf4S2Ww" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> He will probably hit 2000 total yards this season.
Peterson had a major impact immediately. What's amazing about McFadden is he's doing this after being considered somewhat of a bust after his first few years -- or, at a minimum, overhyped. Looks like it was mainly just injuries, but he didn't have the impact many expected. Very impressive what he's done so far this season.
I haven't watched Oakland at all this year, but are they using McFadden in the Wildcat at all? (Moes?) He ran it better at Arkansas than anyone I've ever seen, and it would be awesome to see it run that well again.
I doubt he'd go number 1 overall in ppr league. I still like Ray Rice and McCoy more than him. He was the one guy that I would have shed my draft strategy for if he would have fell to me in the second round, (24th overall). In the end I went with Wallace over Hillis, which was the only other 2nd round worthy back available.
I can't remember, but wasn't the vikings o-line pretty solid the year Peterson arrived? And hasn't the Raiders whole team, and o-line, been pretty bad most of the time McFadden's been there? Not that injuries help... I just think half the battle is the o-line, and offense overall. and on offense, that is probably more true of the RB than any position. Not that a great RB isn't better than an average one, but that the difference between great and average isn't as meaningful in that position as it is in the other offensive skill positions.
I had to choose between him and L. McCoy in my keeper league......I kept McCoy, but dang it was not an easy choice. DD
I had faith that McFadden wouldn't be a bust. I always thought it was either the scheme, the O Line, or just adjustments to the NFL. I believe he is the best RB in the league, and I can only imagine what he would do in the ZBS that the Texans run. I'm still happy to have Arian Foster, though.
I'd still take AP any day over Mcfadden. He needs to put up some more good years before I hop on the bandwagon.
Hue Jackson is one of the main reasons McFadden has been successful lately. Sure, injuries were part of it, but he just wasn't running well his first couple of years. He'd hit the hole and just go down easily, I thought "great, he's another Reggie Bush type" at times. His speed was obvious, but they just weren't utilizing him well at all. When Jackson came in last year as OC, he went to McFadden and asked him what plays he liked to run so he could better tailor the running game around his strengths. Not only did he start immediately ripping off chunks of yardage left and right, but you could tell that when he was full strength he was going to be a terror to opposing defenses. He started finishing runs with purpose, trucking DBs on his way to the end zone. I was just like "Holy ****, its like the return of Bo Jackson". They use the wild cat sparingly. Hue Jackson is a pretty creative offense mind, I'm sure he has a lot of gadget plays involving McFadden. On the TD drive that put them ahead 24-17 yesterday, McFadden was going to do a HB pass, but instead took off and ran for 25 yards or so, and was still pump faking like 10 yards past the LOS. The very next play, they ran a reverse to Denarius Moore and the Jets of course overpursue to try and get to McFadden before he hit the edge, and Moore made one quick cut off the pitch and found paydirt. With Michael Bush bringing the wood in short yardage situations, the Raiders run game is tops in the league, easily. Even our 3rd stringer (Taiwan Jones) has sub 4.3 speed. He's faster than McFadden.
I would also take AD over McFadden. It's great to see McFadden do well after being such a disappointment his first two years.
