And just like that here is the Drayton McClain info complete with email address. Mr. Drayton Mclane Jr., Chair 100 North Apache Drive Temple, Texas 76504 254-778-3955 drayton@mclanegrp.com
Unless you are an advertiser or congressmen your emails and letter will fall on deaf ears. Welcome to America's past time....Capitalism.
How effective will letters to Bud Selig be? If they could be effective, one is inclined to write a professional, courteous letter outlining the case for keeping the Astros in the NL where they belong, and then making a plea for Bud to do the right thing. If there is no changing the tyrant's mind, one is inclined to send pictures of middle fingers, and pictures of moons captioned, "kiss here".
I'm not sure on the answers but, I can say the second address came from a source that said he received a response both times he sent letters to it.
I can tell you guys that Drayton does respond at this email address. I have corresponded with him in the past on a couple of issues (I was trying to get Milo replaced with Mike Capps, radio announcer extraordinaire of the Round Rock Express).
That's not what I said, msn. You asked if I could "intellectually grasp that I simply don't like American League 'baseball' and that the Rangers will never do for me what the teams I grew up with did?" And I said, "Not really, no. Too close-minded, IMO." Neither right nor wrong; just not my perspective. I don't *love* AL baseball - but if the Astros move there I'm sure I'll learn to. And that's because I've been through changes before - the Astros' move to the Central; the Texans' move out of the Oilers' old AFC Central... and each time, I've adjusted accordingly and carried on. So I'm totally open-minded about a move. It's not right; you're not wrong. But I would never venture to guess that "the Rangers will never do for me what the teams I grew up with did" before they've even made the announcement that they're moving. I mean, how would you describe your opinion here? Is that open-minded?
Some folks are more open to change than others. And in addition, some of it is how planted one is in how things are, or how they have been.
Why do you feel the need to characterize it in terms of open-mindedness or closed-mindedness, really? I've been watching NL baseball and AL baseball for nearly 40 years. I don't like the AL game. I don't like the AL teams. It's my preference. Having them shoved down my throat because Dumbass Selig wants to continue tweaking MLB like some shade-tree mechanic souping up his pet project is not likely to change my feelings. But if you have some inherent need to put a label on that, then feel free.
I've never had boiling water poured on my nuts and I'm not interested in letting someone force me to endure it. I'm just closed minded like that.
I responded to your query: I can't relate to your perspective. I'm open to a move (though I ultimately don't care either way); you're not. No judgement. No right or wrong. I *understand* it; I just don't subscribe to it. Therefore, we're reading different chapters. No big deal.
Interesting he would say it's beyond the control of the team... I thought it was expressly the team's choice? That would indicate MLB is playing hardball with his approval in order to move them. So this is going to happen. Weird.
What I am getting from this is.. Its out of Drayton's control because he has vowed to sell the team to Crane. Its out of Crane's control because he cant buy the team without agreeing to move the Astros to the AL in 2013. The only out would seeming be for Crane to pull out, or for Drayton to decide not to sell. Neither side wants this, so for Drayton and Crane to get their way, Selig does also.
They should take Selig's ass to court, and 29 of the owners, and sue their asses into the next millennium. This is dirty, dishonest, breach-of-contract bull****. Every week this goes longer Selig looks more and more the dirty, rotten, manipulative snake he is. What a scumbag piece of ****.
The really sad part is that only here is it such a issue. The rest of ML fans in other cities and their owners got their collective heads buried in the sand on this. Would anyone in Houston be raising a fuss if it were Arizona or the Brewers Selig was trying to move?
