What do inflation, a lack of civil services or a failing infrastructure do for it?

??? Come on now, you honestly think it's only the rich that are privileged to tax breaks? There are more breaks the poorer you are. I would like you to stop lying please.

First of all I'm talking about corporate tax rates, what do poor people have to do with that? Second of all, if you don't own a home or have children you pay more in taxes than those who do. Not only that but the less you earn the harder it is to get deductions. You don't know what you're talking about.

There's a difference between the corporate tax rate and the net effective corporate tax rate. The US tax code is huge compared to Europe with tons of loopholes and deductions to lower the effective tax rate.

For example, General Electric regularly pays a tax rate in the teens for revenues in the billions. Last year, they paid 7.4% in taxes for 2010 not the reported 46.2% maximum corporate rate linked in your article. While middle class tax payers pay a higher combined tax rate in FICA, sale tax, and Income tax, then GE's effective tax rate..

Here is a chart of General Electric's effective tax vs the corporate tax rate for the past decade.

We've been over this a MILLION TIMES. It isn't true. The effective corporate tax rate (due to gaping loopholes in a tax code WRITTEN by corporations) is much, MUCH lower. If this were true, they would have moved to 'socialist France' to enjoy their better tax rates long ago.

Right but if you are a startup or small business and don't have access to loopholes, those high rates are a huge barrier to entry.

Eliminate the loopholes, broaden the base, and lower the rates.

Perhaps thse who make nothing and having virtually nothing to spend would not be taxed much, but the dishonestly named "fair" tax would continue the transfer of wealth from the middle class to the upper 1%.

I suppose you and commodore still believe devoutly in trickle down, despite 30 years of recent emprical evidence?

The guy believes in massive deregulation and minimal taxes as if the 1920s era income disparity and the subsequent Great Depression never happened. Why would you think he'd care about the last 30 years?
