Look people, Tinman is the GARM version of Fox News. There are only two options when it comes to tinman's opinions.

    1. You agree with tinman in that he is always correct
    2. You are not a Rockets fan and you should be banned from clutchfans.

I for one am firmly in group #1. Hakeem is the single greatest person to have ever graced this planet, and I am truly grateful that I breath the same air as he does.

the year nash won it he was amazing - just ridiculous. And they totally got robbed against san antonio.

He definitely deserved it that year.

You can argue whether or not the award is a farce because Kobe or Lebron doesn't win it every year, but the award is for the most dominant and successful player that season. Not in the playoffs.

Did this guy mention Kobe? He implied that the MVP was a farce when I asked which mcgrady season is better than Kobe's MVP season?

When the league, any of them, baseball, football, or basketball says you are MVP it's an honor.

MVP is an honor but sometimes it does not actually go to the best player

IMHO, the MVP award now is nothing but a worthless trophy. MVP stands for Most Valuable Player, not best player in the league or top scorer. It is about who contributes the most to his team, or more brutally, the guy who if he goes down, his team's delta suckage will be the most. Take for example LBJ and the Cav's. There is no question that LBJ deserved at least a couple of MVP's during his stay on that POS team. The team went from best to worst after losing a single player. If LBJ goes down on the Heat, they will still be able to make the playoffs with Bosh and Wade.

Now if Hakeem had gone down back then, the Rockets would have been totally hosed. Hakeem not only was our scorer, but was also our defensive anchor, leader, and best passer. On a team that boasts Smith, Horry, Thorpe, and Maxwell, losing someone like Hakeem would have been insurmountable. He was literally the only top tier player on the team. Hakeem deserved his accolades for carrying what was typically a much more inferior team for as long as he has. Some of the players who win MVP nowadays? Not so much.

Don't go overboard with it yo. Hakeem is no doubt a fantastic top 10 NBA player of all time as well as a great human being but still. In the end its sports.

It's called the MVP, the Most VALUABLE Player, not necessarily the BEST Player. Of course Hakeem deserved it, he was simply the most valuable player to his team. I believe drose deserved it this year as well. Steve Nash deserved his. If Lebron would have stayed in Cleveland, he would of won the MVP many more times but now that he is with Wade it will be hard to tell which player impacts the Heat more and that may cause voters to stray away from voting either Wade or James. It isn't even questionable who had the greatest impact on the Rockets during Hakeem's MVP season.

Saying all that, I also agree that MVP normally goes to the "best story." Rose's Bulls came out of the blue and dominated the league, something everyone expected the Heat to do. Yeah, Rose may of come up short in the playoffs but the MVP is a regular season award and Rose destroyed the regular season, carrying his team to the best record in the league.

Why do you guys even bother with Tinman. I mean seriously.

This dude thinks he knows Rockets, but lets be realistic. He really isn't a Rockets fan.

Ask him where the Rockets really got started. He doesn't know.

Ask him why TMac is a quitter, but his uber Hero Vernon Maxwell who walked out on his teammates during a playoff push isn't.

Ask him anything about players Calvin Murphy, Rudy T, Moses Malone, Jon Lucas, Elvin Hayes, and he has no clue.

He isn't a real Rockets fan. He is a period of time Rockets fan. He knows nothing of the time before the Akeem days, or doesn't care about them, and hates on everything after the Hakeem days.

He is his on weird kind of bandwagon Rockets fan.

    Let's find out shall we...
    Tinman,

Where did the Rockets get started?
Why is Tracy a quitter, and not Vernon Maxwell?
Do you know anything about Calvin, Rudy, Moses, John or Elvin?
Lastly, How did you feel when Tracy took a smelly dump on the legacy of Houston basketball?
Have you ever seen a player legitimately quit while he was on the floor, then proceed to throw his teammates under the bus?

The rockets started in San Diego.
Tracy wanted to be traded and he had the infamous Toronto game that clutch wrote an article on.
    Maxwell was on Clutch city.
Moses and company are rocket legends.

I met dream as a kid when the rockets played the clippers. That was the Cartwright elbow to the eye season. Luckily saw him at the summit and got his and Calvin 's autographs.

Mcgrady booed when he returned to Houston. That should say something about him.

When did T-Mac ever throw his team mates under the bus? IIRC, he always praises Yao every chance he gets.

Unlike Pippen, who was documented in throwing Barkley and Drexler under the bus.

T-Mac is a great role model for anyone who is an aspiring philantropist.

T-Mac is a true professional and I hope he retires a Rocket.

The mvp has been for a very long time, been an award for the best player on the team with the best record, moreso than the "best player", the exceptions come when like Hakeem, the team above them was a much more balanced team and had no player clearly on the same level as Hakeem.

You didn't know the Rockets history to begin with you only found out in a spectacular display of stupidity.

You don't know anything about those old school guys, because you don't try to know anything about them. If its not early 90's rockets you don't pretend to give a crap. Your battle cry of "old school" isn't so old school compared to others.

Maxwell quit on his team during the playoffs. That's why we booted his sorry ass out of Houston. He was too busy crying like a punk. He got exactly what he deserved an unceremonious exit out of Houston like Pippen, and McGrady.
