Oh for sure you're right. I know he had to cater to the mainstream to sell that's what makes me underwhelmed with the album after how dope the mixtapes were.

Mr. Nice Watch was the only new joint I liked. (Can't get enough and In the morning were the only other ones but they're old in terms of release dates).

I'm still stuck on " I got a Hublot I call it Tebow, I strap that b*tch with a gator band"! :grin:

Shouldn't this thread be in the hangout? I know it's got Battier involved but I think the non hip hop heads effed up the thread w/their thoughts on an artist that they've only heard one song from- Rise and Shine.

This ain't your typical Lil Wayne rapper. J Cole has real talent, and real materials to speak about.

Rise and Shine is the best song lyrically in my opinion.

Those are some of my favorite rappers. They always had Nate doing the hooks. Snoop didn't start singing on his songs until around Paid the Cost and R&G. And on most of his other good tracks that don't have Nate, they have Butch Cassidy or Kokane doing the hook.

I'll never understand the appeal of Public Enemy. I've yet to find a song by them that I actually like.

And Fight the Power is one of the most overrated songs in the history of mankind.

 

I've heard him plenty of times, and I only find him decent. I like how you say that is "real material to speak about" and then go on to post a lyric you consider "ill". Bragging about yourself extensively is not "real material". This is real material:

That's "real material". Song of the year, imo. Right up there with Ronald Reagan Era by Kendrick Lamar and The Vent by Big K.R.I.T.

 

You just said Battier is a joke to the black community, so obviously you must hold yourself to some high regard to call somebody a joke to his own ethnic community.

And Shane is 6 ft 8, "sucka", so he'll be looking down at you. In fact, it's funny that you call Shane, someone who kids should look up to, a joke to the black community.

 

I posted vids of him spitting about real materials.

Never been a fan of J.Cole. This line didn't affect my opinion of him though since Battier really is lame.

How can anyone get excited about J Cole when a lyrical beast like Ras Kass is out there?
