Rakim has the best flow ever. The guy can take any beat you give him and lay down some lyrics that make everything come together like it couldn't possibly have been any other way. Perfect example right here. Canibus has a pretty good flow on this song, but as soon as Rakim jumps on the mic it's like "Damn... he totally just took that beat and made it his b*tch." <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_lLdJIx6iGc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Freaks and Geeks is dope as ****. Also, he has this song called You Know Me. The beat bangs so hard on that one it's ridiculous.
Gambino is a cross between Kanye and Wayne. Mostly young Kanye in terms of how he looks but like Wayne in terms of lyrics. He is a punchline rapper nothing more than that imo.
Yeah, that might be true. But sometimes I don't mind the wordplay for its own sake. It's cool to see creative things that good writers can do with words.
Truer words.. never.. been said. Some rappers need a dope beat and maybe competition on the track to help them rise to a level of greatness. Ra is the type that could take a crappy beat and just slay it. Greatness!
good year for hip-hop. Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Big K.R.I.T., A$AP ROCKY, Curren$y, ELZHI, Action Bronson, OFWGKTA, The Cool Kids, etc.
Don't forget Pusha-T. Yet lazy dudes who refuse to actually search for good hip hop will come out on every thread talking about hip hop is dead. There's no good artists out there anymore.
lol so true. the same guys who only associate rappers like lil wayne, drake, or kreayshawn as the representation of current hip-hop as a whole.
Look up J Cole's mixtape the Warmup, some of the best music put out by a current artist, his album was fire aswell, The Sideline Story
Hopsin Chiddy Bang Earl Sweatshirt J Cole Lupe Fiasco Wale even though his album sucks; he has some decent mixes
Maybach Music Group has the best album Ive heard so far (but Im a big Ross fan).....Every track is fiyah I mostly dont listen to anyone on the radio (except Ross n Drake).... I mostly jam Wiz Khalifa old **** :Kush n Orange Juice and Cabin Fever Curren$y ilot Talk 1 & 2

Oooooold school. One of my favorites of all time since it's done by one of the godfathers of the pre-house/techno hip-hop movement, Man Parrish (with Freeze Force/MC John Ski). It's still awesome to this day : <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5TNc28AcLSI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Nice, IMO z-ro is up there at top 2-3 from the H that's still rapping. Met him and trae at one park place after a game earlier this year. He probably thought I was a little too white to know who he is
You have to be a little more descriptive about what you are looking for? Lots of different types of rap. Also, how long have you been listening for? Do you have the classics (i.e., Doggystyle, Dogg Food, All Eyes On Me, Chronic 2001, Balance and Options)? Do you have the underground classics (i.e., Ras Kass's Institutionalized Volume 1, Frontline's Who R U?)? I got a chance to pick up my copy of WC's Revenge of the Barracuda and that album is a really good. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7b7aKRyEWLQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
