It's the first round of the All NBA Draft Part 2! For this draft we used a $75 million hard cap. Production estimates for each player are based on their 2010-2011 seasons. All players are considered to be healthy, but age, accumulation of injuries, or serious injuries are accounted for. So, for example, Greg Oden is to be considered healthy but his injury history is to be respected. This matchup pits thething vs. VBG thething C: Tyson Chandler/Chris Andersen PF: Chris Bosh/Chuck Hayes/Glen Davis SF: Paul Pierce/Thaddeus Young SG: Kevin Martin/Courtney Lee PG: Kyle Lowry/George Hill/DJ Augustin vs. VBG PG - Russell Westbrook/Mike Conley SG - Jason Terry/Ronnie Brewer SF - Danny Granger/Jared Dudley PF - David West/Elton Brand/Aaron Gray C - Joakim Noah/Greg Oden/Ian Manhinmi
Why my team will win 1. Offensive Balance- My team has many different players that you can ride. As a Rockets fan, you've seen David West torch defenses. Jason Terry making 3s and mid ranged shot all day. Danny Granger using screens to free himself and make shots from all over the court. And of course Russell Westbrook who is too big, fast and strong for any PG in the NBA to stop (even the awesome Lowry). Here the floor will be completely open for Westbrook to go down low. Noah is a smart offensive rebounder as well. Bench Balance - I have scoring, playmaking off of the bench as well as a solid post threat. Unlike thething, my post offense does not rely on just Chris Bosh (who is not really a pure post threat). His bench will have a lot of difficulty to score on my bench. His team really lacks bench offense. No one to change the pace in the game.
Most of my scoring will come from my trio of Martin, Pierce, and Bosh. Luckily Terry, Granger, and West aren't great defenders so that works in my favor. I have a good PG in Lowry that can satisfy those three guys. From the starters, I have a much better post offense. West is good, but Bosh is much more talented. When Bosh is out I can slide Thaddeus Young to the 4, or Glen Davis, both of whom can score in the post. Chandler and Noah are about equal on offense, but Chandler is more efficient. Chandler's offense rating is ridiculous--it's at 131. I can't find a player with a higher rating than that. He shot about 65% from the field and Noah shot 53%. Both score mainly layups, dunks, and putbacks, though. Westbrook has those strengths but we know his weaknesses--he can't shoot and he jacks up too many bad shots. In case one of Brand or West start scoring a lot, I do have Chuck Hayes to put a stop to it. I think he could score some, too, with his improved offensive game. I don't understand VBG's saying I have no bench offense. Hill, Lee, and Young are all legitimate threats to score. I don't have to explain what Courtney Lee can do. George Hill is a really good shooter and defender. Thad Young averaged 13 ppg and is a good post scorer.
this match up is insane hahaha it will come down to the bench and both benches are even idk who to vote lol
That's completely false but it explains why I'm losing so badly. OKC had no team offense and no structure. Here westbrook is paired with 3 amazing shooters at their position. You can't load up on Westbrook like you could in OKC. And anyone who watches OKC can see all the open shots everyone not named Durant gets.
In terms of draft position that is an absolutely awful trade. You move down 8 spots from the 1st to the early 2nd for a 7th rounder. But David West only slipped that far because no one had the cap space to take him.
