I'm not sure how people are even interpreting that tweet positively. If anything it sounds a like an answer to someone asking him: Anonymous..."How long will the lockout last? Mason..."Looking like a season. how u....(gonna handle that? set up financially? feel about that)? whatever" I'm going with the he was trying to send a message or private tweet and accidentally sent it to everyone.
WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski As one GM just texted: "How can you meet for six hours and have nothing to report?" WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski As it turns out, both NBA and union dug in today and there was no progress, source tells Y! That was no acting post-meeting. WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski Both sides looked and sounded as glum as ever, far from any solutions. (In case that wasn't clear in the past several tweets). WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski Stern and Silver bailed, offered nothing. You can expect the next step today or tomorrow will be to cancel 1st two weeks of training camp.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7...nt-training-camp-exhibition-games-sources-say This article did not give me warm fuzzies. Stern wants to player to agree to a Bri in the low well below 50% and they want a hard cap still. Their is no way players are going to agree to that. I personally don't blame them. I could understand going 50 - 50 are may 50 - 49 in favor of the owners just to make them feel like they won. But well be low 50%? If there owners don't check them selves they are going to force the Union to De-certify and have to Duke it out in Anti-trust court. That my friends will not end well.
First two weeks of training camp and preseason games canceled. LAME. I like football, but I looooove basketball. Let's kiss and make up, folks...
The players requested 54%(4% above 50%) and Stern offered 46%(4% below 50%). It looks like a classic low ball by Stern with the intention of a 50/50 split, if they "compromise". If he offered 50%, then the compromise offer would have between 50% and 54% would have been 52% with the player's union refusing to go 50/50
Its not that the players union refuses to go to 50%, its just that the players have already lowered their offer once and the owners are still staying firm at their original offer. If they want to meet at the 50/50 mark then the owners need to show good faith that they will be willing to meet in the middle. The owners are going all the way with this one, and will not budge first making it difficult for the players union to get anything done for the fact that if they lower their asking price again then they could lose even more than the 50/50 mark just for the sake of getting a deal done. The players are soon going to have to make their final offer and stick to it. Even if it means losing the entire season. Its a shame but if they keep on tweeking their bid then it gives the owners more reason to hold on as long as possible. The longer the owners wait, the more they get in return.
What ticks me off about this whole thing is that the owners learned absolutely nothing from the mid and late 90s. They were giving superstar money to players like jim mcilvane and they continued to give big money to players like jeffries today. ^HE MAD =)
Looking like a season. how u doin' of course I have to check with my associates first. Looking like a season. how u feel if I said the Board of Directors is under indictment and will be serving time? Looking like a season. how u know sodomy isn't a prerequisite tho?
I don't. That would definitely shorten or scratch the season. I feel de-certification should have been done right away in the beginning.
I am starting the to get the feeling it does not matter what the players concede on right now. The owners want to negotiate with the players when they are in a state of desperation ( No checks coming in) They feel like no matter what deal they get from the players right now, will not be as good as a deal the could sign in January. Every one spends alot of many at Christmas time especially Rich people or people who think they are rich. Once those American Express Black Card bills start rolling in during January, they figure the players will be more inclined to take what they can get from the owners. Stern and the owners will never admit to it but that is what they are doing. Its Kinda of like buying a New TV a week before Black Friday. No matter how good of a price you have on TV right now you know come Black Friday the price will be even better If you just wait till the right time. It sucks but that is what is happening
Well another surprise meeting was scheduled today with another one expected tomorrow. I think they are on to something. I wonder how much money will be lost from those 43 missed games?
Why does everybody want a season. Obviously we want to see great basketball but to me it would be very interesting if there won't be a season at all. Maybe Stern will consider stepping down, maybe the players will get off their high horses and maybe the owners will share some of the profit.
A source has reportedly told Ken Berger of CBSSports.com that the owners and players are "inching closer to a deal." Meanwhile, a source tells Sam Amico of FOX Sports Ohio that the two sides "are very determined. They're close." We've seen signs of optimism before only to have them squashed, but we'll be watching the aftermath of Wednesday's meeting very closely in hopes that something positive will come out of it. http://twitter.com/#!/SamAmicoFSO
