What part of Clutch City is forever do you not get?

You realize there's a freaking statue of this Hakeem guy in front of the arena right?

Rudy T had one thing to say to those none believers and i'm going to keep saying it til the aliens invades or the apes take over the planet.

they don't know about Clutch City, sure they've heard about it, the stories, but they don't know it.

It's not in their heart. When you experience Clutch City, it's in your heart. Your Aorta. your DNA.

I have the Rudy T's line, "Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion" as my alarm so yes, yes I do.:p

*Sidenote edit- I'm not sure why people feel the need to bag on tinman for him stuck in the glory days. I've actually learned stuff from his posts and asking him questions. He is like the Clutch City historian. A very slanted historian, but historian nonetheless. Me being 21 and all I have to go on is videos and people's recollections it's cool that somebody drops knowledge every once an awhile. Even though I do like T-mac I respect tinman's commitment to keeping the history of the Houston Rockets alive.

    1) technically, every post on here is "living in the past" especially since there is no nba basketball being played right now.

    2) go f-ck yourself

yeah, this htownrox1 says he loves Clutch City, but doesn't like Dream videos or stories.

I believe anyone who's seen Dream play, will never get tired of speaking about him and his greatness.

don't worry about these non believers, i've been on this board forever and I faced far better, smarter, creative, and knowledgeable foes than these Orlando magic loving nutcases.

I don't give a rat's ass about what they think about me, I'll outlast them here, look at my freaking post count. look at my rep points.

ask away about Clutch City or anything about the Rockets past or future, hell even ask me about the Orlando Magic, I saw their best team play the Rockets in 95 and get swept.

If one person is a more knowledgeable fan while a bunch keep crying about my style, stats, and media postings, it was worth it.

The whole thing I find hilarious, is that ones who repeated follow me, think they can actually change my mind on certain topics I know to be solid.

These newer fans seem to be very sensitive too, first it was Charles Barkley, now anybody who can blog and not say the things they want to hear makes them cry a river.

I actually think the newer fans are fantastic, you seem to care about the Rockets. 00rocketgirl is a significantly better Rockets fan than all of these jokers. I'll even say she's on par with Clutch!

you and her need to be more vocal, let these newbie nonbelievers get drowned out by your clutch city spirit.

Dream's MVP was legit. Anyone who believes otherwise is an idiot.

I have no problem with Hakeem videos or stories. You just take it to a whole different level. Your man crush on him is obsessive and borderline psychopathic.

    Hakeem is married bro.

Hakeem probably deserved an MVP in 1989 and/or 1990, too. (No disrespect to Magic.)

Do people here not see a quote being taken out of context?

It's equivalent to a person saying the NBA all-defensive team is a joke, and then an insecure person who disagrees decides to start a thread saying "Some people believe Hakeem's all-defensive honors is a joke".

The reason why some fans believe it's a farce is because their favorite player never won it.

But our favorite player did win it and we vividly remember why he did win it.

He led our team one of the best records in the league.
He did with honor and grace.
He was the most important part of our team.
    He had an incredible year.

I'll stop posting about Hakeem when they pull down the championship banners and un-retire his number.

Wow. I knew this was taken out of context before even seeing the proof....The MVP award is a farce, more now than ever. Back then, not as much, since the league wasn't as talented, the stars were better distributed, so it was easier to find the true MVP. We're talking about a decade of difference here. The MVP isn't now what it was back then.

It's more of a regular season award and usually the team who had the candidate with the best record won.

If people were more precise in their description like "the MVP that Kobe won was a farce", then it wouldn't disrespect the ones that they thought won and deserved it.

Here's a list of the 80s and 90s MVPs. All of these guys are hall of famers.

    1979-80 - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Los Angeles
    1980-81 - Julius Erving, Philadelphia
    1981-82 - Moses Malone, Houston
    1982-83 - Moses Malone, Philadelphia
    1983-84 - Larry Bird, Boston
    1984-85 - Larry Bird, Boston
    1985-86 - Larry Bird, Boston
1986-87 - Magic Johnson, Los Angeles Lakers
    1987-88 - Michael Jordan, Chicago
1988-89 - Magic Johnson, Los Angeles Lakers
1989-90 - Magic Johnson, Los Angeles Lakers
    1990-91 - Michael Jordan, Chicago
    1991-92 - Michael Jordan, Chicago
    1992-93 - Charles Barkley, Phoenix
    1993-94 - Hakeem Olajuwon, Houston
1994-95 - David Robinson, San Antonio
    1995-96 - Michael Jordan, Chicago
    1996-97 - Karl Malone, Utah
    1997-98 - Michael Jordan, Chicago
    1998-99 - Karl Malone, Utah
    1999-00 - Shaquille O'Neal, Los Angeles Lakers

He was top 10 in scoring and passing this year, and lead his team to a top record while his teammate constantly suffered with injuries. The MVP can't go to the best player every year.. it goes to who had the most impressive performance.
