    If you really want an interesting look at the town, Google some more recent news items. They are having some reverse issues currently, in regards to hiring a police chief.

    I thought this happened in Vidor and that Vidor was the town with the bad reputation because of it.

    No Vidor is infamous for being a sundown town and effectively removing all African Americans from the town. The feds tried to move in a few African American families as part of a housing project in the 90s but then the KKK showed up and started protesting and making life hell for those families so they moved them out.

    Vidor is just known as a really racist town.

    No Vidor is the headquarters... These folks gotta assemble rallys somewhere.. Contrary to belief, I dont think they just hang out in the woods waiting for a black dude to pass through..No matter what Hollywood tells you

    And Vidor currently has a black population, though there are parts of the area I don't advise anyone visiting. The sad thing is I know people from both towns and most of the people in each place are no more racist than any other average person. In these cases a few bad apples give the appearance that the bunch is spoiled.
