Don't know if this has been discussed before but my guess is it's obvious Artest is trying to become a focus of the media by acting crazy and literally copying Rodman. The latest name change is just another stunt to get his name out there, at least to me. It tells me he's trying really hard to become a guy who is talked about, what Rodman did as well. What bothers me though is that Artest's whole character seems to be just that, a character. Being a copycat is one thing but ever since his fake going at Kobe during the 2009 playoffs has turned me against him. Then moving to the Lakers, changing his number which of course has a deep meaning. Then the dying of the hair, even varying with letters and such ala Rodman. Now it can be argued if Rodman was crazy, acting or part crazy and part acting. Same goes for Artest. Is he just crazy and not realising he's copying Rodman ? Is he acting to get attention or a mix. Please discuss, also if you totally disagree with my statement that Artest is copying Rodman.
Artest is being DERIVATIVE of ANY kind of crazy and attention getting, not just Rodman. The name change and reality tv experience is based mostly on Chad Ochocinco, he says so himself. With some influence from World B Free on the name change. (World Be Free doesn't seem to think Artest is being as sincere as he was with his name change about the message of peace) Artest already borrowed from Rodman with the crazy hair styles. Then he's gonna change his jersey number to odd large numbers like Rodman again. If he gets his way he's gonna change his jersey number TWICE in 2 consecutive seasons. (To match the 4 digit number of Martin Luther King's jail number from the time he got sent to jail...)
So... basically you equate 'crazy' to Rodman. Then... since Artest acts crazy, he is 'copying' Rodman. That's very logical!
Artest is a self promoter jumped the shark 2 seasons ago. Rodman was just plain nasty on and off the court.
Artest has some issues but he's acting 99% of the time whereas Rodman had serious issues. Doesn't take away that Rodman acted a lot on the court and off-court in interviews and such. The copying is however obvious as hell, especially after the dance act recently.
Why does it matter to you? Let him do whatever he wants, quit hatin on someone that's not even a Houston Rocket.
We all know Ron loves the attention, but he got on the show for some good causes. I didnt watch the show at all but found this interview on youtube <link>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zM-34WH6reI</link> He went to the Lakers...blah blah so what. I still got love for Ron bc he played his ass off while he was a Rocket. With that said, **** the other Lakers...i hope they never win another championship, well at least not in my lifetime.
Artest is lame. Made ass of himself on dancing with the stars. First one voted off. Nobody cares about him nor his stupid name change. Lame.
