It's the same players...no reason to think they're a crappy defense. In the end, they'll be easily in the top 12 or so defenses, if not higher.

Have not the Texans had several "one and done" running backs. Slaton, yes, but there were some others. Just can't remember their names. Foster is likely going to struggle for most of the season. Being healed well enough to run around and be a normal person, no problem. Being well enough to have 300 pounders dance on your legs, big problem.

Domanick Davis/Williams was our first 1,000 yard runner.

I say sit Foster for a couple of games then gradually work him back into the fold.

Hope Tate keeps up these good numbers, and gets more TD's. I need the fantasy points!

really? we're already predicting the demise of Arian Foster?

guess we got to have *something* to b**** about, what with us not playing the Peyton-less team and with us not losing, and all.

Tate's good but he's no Foster. When you watch Foster play you see the talent that he possesses.

Foster has a little bit better pass catching ability than Tate. Tate runs with a little more downhill authority between the tackles.

I don't think it should be one or the other. In the NFL you need 2 BACKS now. Keep them both on the team like a D'Angelo Williams/Jonathan Stewart setup. Derrick Ward and Slaton are the expendable pieces, not Foster or Tate.

Why does everyone think Slaton was always crap? Just shy of 1300 yards rushing and over 1600 yards from scrimmage in 2008, then he got hurt. Those numbers are flat out amazing. Even in his embarrassing low usage last year (rightfully so) he still put up 4.9 ypr.

It tells you both of those guys need to give half of their paychecks to the O-Line. Anybody worth a damn can run behind that line.

Why? Cause the Texans are good guys?
Seriously. . if Tate can do 80% of the job at 30% of the price
you don't think the Texans will take that deal

Tate = 102 Yrds per game at 500K/yr
    versus
    Arian = 122 yrds per game at 6 mill/yr

Im 99.9% sure everyone here is well aware of Slaton's success as a rookie.

Im also sure that everyone here knows that, right now, Slaton is not a good RB, despite being in a "system" that caters to RBs. The point is that you still have to do things right as a runner to succeed in the ZBS scheme...its not just "plug and play" like everyone assumes it to be.

Arian Foster has superstar quality vision. Ben Tate ain't replacing that.

I understand the argument that any back can be successful in this system; it's true to an extent. But just like Denver with Shanahan had tons of 1000yd rushers, they still needed Terrell Davis to win a championship. Davis was special, and Foster is special also. We need to keep him.

Plus he likes Janelle Monae! Seriously this lady would be Madonna if major label music weren't completely f'ed up nowadays. Arian knows whats up.

It's unbelievable to me. People in this thread are already comparing Foster - who is coming off a freaking RUSHING TITLE - to Dominick Davis? Really??

Why can't we just be happy that we have a superstar in Foster and an excellent backup in Tate? Tate has looked good this year, but for every 10 yards he gains, Foster would have probably gained 15.

Dominick Davis had at least three good years for the Texans:

    2003 - 1031 rush yds and 351 yds receiving
    2004 - 1188 rush yds and 588 yds receiving
    2005 - 976 rush yds and 337 yds receiving (in 11 games)

He wasn't a one and done type guy. I do recall Ron Dayne having one really good season behind our offensive line and then not doing much else, but I don't think anyone other than Slaton has had a really good year and then dropped off the map like you used to see with Denver all the time.

That DD is always ahead of the curve, and is right 96.7% of the time.
