28/46 is not an accuracy problem. he still put up 9 yards per attempt.

his rating in his first game was 110, what do you mean by accuracy?

I said last year before the first game I would trade mario for suh. This year after two games I would trade matt shaub for cam newton without hesitation.

Why do you have a problem admitting Cam Newton looks good so far this year? Were you a big VY fan or something?

Just what I said (against the Packers). Didn't see the game last week and can't comment.

I know about the Packers secondary but they have looked very pedestrian the first couple of games.

Big VY fan when he was at UT. No longer. I think he's a joke now.

Can Newton has done great his first two games. I don't feel the need to denigrate other players to make a favorite player of mine look good.

I live in SC so Panthers are the team here. His overall numbers were good, but if when you watched the game, he made a number of throws that should not be made, underthrows, and overthrows.

Also there were a number of balls that he essentially put up there for the receiver to make a play on. Lafell's catches all day were absolutely ridiculous, and Steve Smith is still one of the best players to fight to get a ball in the air despite his size. They really helped his accuracy. Then he did check down a lot and his checkdown targets made some nice plays to get generous YAC. He should get credit for making the right play in those spots. Knowing an offense well enough to be able to check down and hit the safety receiver on a blitzes without much of an off season was extremely impressive but the stats should be taken with a grain of salt.

I was most impressed with his demeanor and attitude. He knew when he made mistakes, e.g., 3rd & 1 in the 4q at the 4 and he runs OOB for 3 yd loss instead of throwing it away with score 23-17, and didn't pawn it off anyone else. He also was very much hurt by the loss and did not seem to care much about the stats.

He has definitely proved he can be a starting QB in the league with some seasoning in a few years. With their schedule, their is no way they get to the playoffs like Flaco, Ryan, and Young did, but he could easily do so in a few years. Superstars are determined by what you do in the playoffs, so he has a ways to go before that can said.

Actually started to root for the kid. Seem to have his head on straight, is humble, and genuine now after the Florida fiasco and having to to Blinn. Just has a father who is idiotically tried use him for some quick cash and wasn't smart enough to hide it effectively. Not the first time that has happened.

All I know is that I picked up Steve Smith around the 12th round....and man.....that has helped a lot in my 3 receiver league.

Teams are just more pass happy. OR its just gotten easier to pass in the NFL.

There were 14 300 yard passers last week. Offenses ahead of the defenses, yes. Though half of them threw the ball OVER 43 times. You're gonna get yards doing that every game

(Except for Jay Cutler, today 19/45 and 244 yards)

Its starting to seem a trend with young QBs "getting it" early". Kevin Kolb went bananas in his 1st 2 career starts as well. Sam Bradford looked like pro out the gate.

Still, generally its easier for RUNNING BACKS to have strong debuts over QBs. So though while its a "dink & dunk" league now, credit to Cam for his early success. Jimmy Clausen didnt get it with the same opportunity, so Cam's doing something right.

If Vince had a coach and the receivers that Cam has, he would have put some pretty big numbers also. Cam has all the tools to be good to great quarterback and he landed in a great spot.

I thought his reads were surprisingly good for a rookie QB. Needs to learn when to throw the ball away or take off and run, he forced some throws against GB. Like all young QBs, he needs to improve his accuracy on certain throws, but that comes with time and reps. I love his demeanor.

Newton's got great physical tools and a good head on his shoulders. He'll be a top-5 QB in three years. No way I would have said that when he was drafted.

Vince had Chris Johnson at RB and Jeff Fisher as a coach.

The Panthers are a dreadful team with a garbage running game and a rookie head coach. Doesn't matter to Cam.

Legit prospects don't need excuses, they just go out there and produce. The fact that he shredded the GB defense for good portions of the game is impressive.

He also has more Ints than TDs.

He need to cut down on the INTs.

But a completion percentage of 62.7% while averaging over 10 yards per attempt is pretty sick.

Cam was making some unbelievable reads and throws yesterday. Now if they will just stop relying on him to do so much and utilize those two good RBs that have, they might actually win some games.

Would everyone quit being so obsessive over VY.

Cam Newton has had one great game, and one game where he he was good for one half, bad for the other. I don't care if he threw for 400 yards. If you are turning over the ball, losing, and not scoring TDs, than those are empty yards. He made some amazing throws, and some terrible throws.

Carolina, for as bad as they are, do have talent in Steve Smith, DeAngelo Williams, and Jonathan Stewart. I imagine their O-line is the biggest problem, because I can't imagine that Williams and Stewart both forgot how to run.

DeAngelo Williams looks like crap coming off an injury and Jonathan Stewart was a career backup until he started a game.

And yes, Cam is playing with a crappy o-line.

Isn't everyone who doesn't start their first career game, a career backup until they start?

Personally, I was shocked when the gave Williams all that money, since Stewart is younger, and performed great when Williams is out. Not to mention Mike Goodson was very good himself.
