Regardless of the "Ricky Martin" vibes you get from Ortiz, he seems like a decent guy. Antithesis to Mayweather.

I think he got soaked up too much in the laid back "California lifestyle". The surfing and all the outdoorsey fitness wonk activities.

Cheap headbutt aside, I fault him for being TOO much of a sportsman.

After watching that. I have to admit this is somehow rigged.

Random vid of a fast ONE PUNCH KNOCKOUT fight from 2003, Angel Luis Torres vs. Gabriel Krizan. Happened during attempt at touching gloves.

Krizan reaches out to touch gloves, instead Torres totally ignores it and instead throws a punch and knocks Krizan out COLD.

As the ESPN anchor says, its legal. Very unsportsmanlike but its legal.

There are complaints about the last Pacquiao - Mosley fight that Mosley was trying to touch gloves TOO much and Pacquiao was giving TOO MUCH respect, and people wanted to see a HARD FIGHT.

From Oscar De La Hoya's Twitter himself

People are gonna empty their bank accounts to get ringside seats for the eventual Mayweather vs Pacquaio fight... Floyd went off on Larry knowing boxing purist will hate him and will pay top dollar to see him lose... It is a brilliant marketing plan on Mayweathers part but could backfire...Because after this black mark, people will always second guess his greatness until he fights Pac... He is now forced to fight Pac for his legacy... So what better way for Floyd to go out than to make Everyone watch that fight and while earning 70+ million.... Its brilliant on Floyds part!!!

No one gives a crap if it's legal. It's still a cowardly move of taking advantage of a situation.

My gosh, Mayweather fans are an interesting lot.
I'd bet that if things happened the other way around, fans would feel a bit more sympathy for Mayweather and Ortiz would get little love from the fans.
Mayweather would actually get some sympathy from those that dislike him and that's damn near impossible for a classless egomaniac like him to get.

Either way, Mayweather is a brilliant fighter and was the smarter of the two. Ortiz is a dumbazz with little drive now that he's fighting at the top of his class and cashing the big checks. Classless yet legal move by Mayweather but the main thing is he won.

I wonder this about Mayweather nuthuggers. Why is it that the two points they bring up to those that dislike Mayweathers attitude, criminal record and self-promotion is to mention his
    1) record- Understandable, we know he is undefeated but it still won't make most boxing pundits put him up there as one of the greatest of all time.
    2) the fact that he's making --- million dollars on his fights and is cashing his big check.

Seriously? So the reason people dislike Mayweather is because they're jealous they don't have money like him???

It's the most ridiculous theory I hear from Mayweather fans.

See you would have had a valid point except for the part where you mentioned legacy as a reason they will fight. Actually the opposite. That's the reason they won't fight because Mr. Mayweather jr. values his undefeated legacy and it makes sense to him not to put that on the line in a fight where he has a very legitimate chance of losing, when he could easily stay undefeated and believe to himself that he'll go down in history as one of the greats. (Deluding himself if he and Pacquaio don't fight in my opinion).

Weirdest things about this fight are victor isn't a dirty fight...I've seen enough of his fights to know that he doesn't headbutt, and second hes gotten hit way harder and gotten up.

They were both in the wrong. Ref deserves the blame also. For all those that say what Ortiz did, negates what Floyd did, why did Floyd have to go there? Hes one of the best and could easily beat Ortiz cleanly. Its kind of sad that someone so skilled resorts to a low move like this one.

You know the guy Mayweather reminds me of, Louis Farrakhan. The same smug demeanor, the same repulsive tactics, the same befuddling talents. He is the one guy that is a polarizing as Mayweather is, the same deluded sense of self worth.

Fighting is what I meant. Not trying to be cute or fancy, I just don't read what I type for grammar errors. I just assume that people will understand me.

Its funny Mayweather is now notoriously classless , but he's been sucker-punching humanity for quite some time... Look how the dude talks to his own father, look at how he treated his children's mom!!!... Dude is talented and knows he's great yet needs to be humbled...Unfortunately I dont think a fight with Pacquaio will do that... Only way to humble him is to boycott PPV when he fights...But people want to pay money to see him lose but are only paying money to see him win...He's a brilliant businessman

You're totally right as to Mayweather-class/humility
It's a vicious circle for boxing fans that aren't boycotting ppv when he fights.
He's a brilliant promoter as well. When he retires he might as well go into fight promotion and start his own company(if he hasn't already).
