why people saying Tiago is a good player? Scola scored 32 pts against him.
and he is not good on offense.

and what would happen if they tank in 2013 get a superstar in the 2014 draft, and then we end up with the 24th pick.

Rockets have good talent scouts, but the Spurs are at least equally as good as the Rockets and if not much much better.

The Spurs aren't stupid, they learn from their mistakes. Their team made nothing but great moves in the last decade. Do you think that they would not look into the near future and attempt to get their best return as well?

Even if they want to trade for Scola, the pick they will give up will most likely be the year that they don't suck in, and i know that for a fact because the Spurs are not a team you can screw over. As david_rocket just said, they might tank a year ahead, or a year after to get the best return. They most definitely won't tank in the year that the pick goes to us, and they most likely won't suck enough to get us a high lottery pick.

And I repeat, Thompson and Asik are guys that these teams will NOT give up. You are not looking at the full picture, these two players are young big men with lots of potential. I can bet the Bulls are more than willing to drop a guy like Boozer to keep Asik. The only way we could acquire these players without getting stuck in a bad contract is through a trade. And as we have already seen, the Bulls ask ALOT for Asik. They wanted more than Lee, because the Lee for Asik wasn't even likely to happen.

Bottomline is, there is no way in hell we can acquire any of these restricted big men unless we overpay them or give away our best pieces in order to acquire them.

I MENTIONED SPURS AS AN EXAMPLE - They would be interest in Scola for sure. As someone who doesn't work for the team, I can't surmise with great confidence the other teams that would call about Scola. If there is a better deal out there, Morey will do it. I'm sure.

The Kings are a penny-pinching team. And they just traded for Hickson. I doubt they will keep both Hickson and Thompson given the financial situation of the Maloofs. Feel free to differ.

I'm sure the Bulls would love to drop Boozer from their books. Although, I always saw Thibs sticking up for him (maybe to keep value, idk). However, that is easier said then done. It would be great for them if they unloaded Boozer to the Magic for like Bass, JJ, and Hedo in a final last ditch effort to keep Dwight. Boozer is one of the worse contracts in the game when considering his propensity to injury, lack of athleticism couple with average height, and the amount of money he makes. Remember they have Noah who makes some coin too. And Gibson will make $4-7mill on his next contract.

I think they will have to trade Gibson and reluctantly Asik as a distant second option. Something has to give for that team - they have 4 above average pf/c's and Rose/Deng making coin too.

I'm hoping Asik becomes available but I agree about his value in comparison to Boozer. I don't see Asik and Noah being able to play together considering their lack of range and offensive skills. My point is that although they would like to keep Asik it is not a lock due to current personnel and contracts.

I trust our staff. I think the Brad Miller signing was a Rick thing. Gortat has a great contract now - even though many and Morey included thought he was not worth the full mid-level. So based on how Asik's played thus far, I think 7mill per year would be both too rich for the Bulls given current contracts and a good signing if he's getting at least 25mpg and playing like he's had thus far (but hopefully improving).

    BUT I PREFER HOWARD!

I know you prefer Howard, who doesn't? But life doesn't work that way, you can't just get Howard because you prefer him. My point, since the very beginning, there aren't any good offers and options available out there that would net us a profitable return in exchange for Scola.

Hence, the reason why I said the Spurs' deal that you pitched for is not a good deal at all.

I'm merely stating the fact that there are so many here vouching to trade Scola (which is understandable), when in reality trading Scola and getting a good return is ridiculous difficult.

We've gone beyond what the initial argument was (which is the Spurs trade is not a good trade, at least in my opinion).

Haha, I know life doesn't work that way.

I think you mean as far as we (fans) know, that haven't been any offers out there. But I'm confident that when / if Morey pulls the trigger to trade Scola, the deal will make sense for us.

I think that concludes our discussion.

As a side note, Scola is a great player. He plays with a lot of heart and intensity and is very skilled and he's a winner. I'd like to see him paired with a rim-protecting shot-blocking big.

All - do you think if he makes an All-Star game and wins a ring that he would make the Hall of Fame (considering his other successes)?

I can definitely see Scola making it in the FIBA HOF but I have doubts about the NBA HOF. His tenure in the NBA is too short and his best years are probably behind him already.

Although guys like Calvin Murphy did make it in the HOF without a championship and only one all star appearance, with pretty good stats that come around pretty often.

The only people talking about rebuilding are the fans. Les Alexander specifically told Daryl he wants to keep winning while retooling. Their plans is to try and continue to get that star and make the playoffs.
