And I contend that healthy Manning or not; turnovers or not, the Colts defense never should showed any evidence that it could slow down the Texans' offense. They moved the ball up and down the field. The only reason they didn't score 50 was they had their own turnovers - more than the Colts, in fact. We should maybe point you to a dictionary... facts aren't generally drenched in supposition and opinion.
LOL! Never said 3 points = 7. Never ignored turnovers. Actually you are the one who ignored the scores off turnovers. The Texans scored 13 points in the 4 possessions they had in the first half that weren't off turnovers. That is awesome. The Texans offense took it easy the second half as grinding out time was more important.
I was specifically responding to this. If you agree with him, feel free to tell me why he is correct.
But with Manning, wouldn't the Colts score more points? If they score more points, would the game been closer? Especially because the Texans offense would be on the field less? What's your common sense against that?
The hell that is being a Houston football fan is people b****ing about 34-7 ass kickings like the Texans put on the Colts. Jesus. If you can't enjoy that game as a Texans fan then you need to stop watching football, or shoot yourself.
What's the point of making this argument? Manning didn't play and there is no way to know what would of happened if he did because it DIDN'T happen. He could have thrown 10 touchdowns or he could have thrown 10 pick 6's. You make it seem like our score wouldn't have changed at all and the only thing that would change is the Colts score when in reality, IF (the word that makes this argument ridiculous) Peyton had played, the game would not have played out the same exact way.
Something you can be sure of is had Manning played, it would have given Kubiak more of a chance to outkubiak himself.
Week 1 last year. Against a healthy Manning, the Texans built not one but two - 2! - 17-point 4Q leads. The Colts wound up exploiting what we didn't yet know was an historically bad pass defense to make the score closer but... that was every bit the a-kicking Sunday's game was. It's a slippery slope to play the "what if..." game. And Manning or no Manning, the Colt defense was completely and thoroughly outclassed. A 3rd string RB playing in his first NFL regular season game dropped 116/4.8 YPC on them.
They might not have won by 27 points, but there is every reason to believe the Texans would have beaten the Colts decisively if Manning played. Let's enjoy the win and move on. I'm still a skeptic on how good the Texans will be this year. Winning the division and making the playoffs should be a given because an 8-8 record should do that. If the Texans beat the Dolphins this Sunday and take down the Saints in week 3, I'll join the bandwagon and say they are a good team that could do damage in the playoffs.
I never said that we would still be up 34-0 at half if Manning Played, Nobody knows what their score would have been if Manning Played, Because he didnt. But what we do know is that Manning does not play on Defense, So regardless of if Manning was playing or not, they still would have had to stop us from scoring, which we all seen they had a hard time doing. On the other side of the ball....... How is that so hard to realize, our defense is a complete 360 to what it was last year, There is no comparison to this years and last years defense. We cannot bring up fourth quarter collapses or anything that burdened us last year until it actually happens this year. Why? Because we have a new defensive scheme, a new person making the calls, 4 new faces and 4 players returning healthy.
please, dear Lord in heaven, no. Spoiler can we pretty-please be a complete 180 instead?
What if they lose to the Dolphins, but then beat the Saints? Or vice-versa? I really don't think whether or not they can do damage in the playoffs is going to be dictated by these next two games. Will it cause the league to take notice if we go into New Orleans and take down the Saints? Of course. But a Super Bowl contender is not made in the first 3 weeks. The Texans were 4-2 last year, and finished 2-8. The Texans could very well start THIS season out something like 2-4, and finish the season 8-2. It's a long season. But, the team looks like they finally have the pieces to bring it all together and make a run.
Hey msn: If you need a good chuckle check out the Indy Colts fan forum. They are actually insulted because the Colts are 3 point dogs to Cleveland at home. After that display of stinko football last week, they should be rejoicing that the line is ONLY 3 points and not 33. They aren't even in the first stage of denial yet. As for this BBS, it looks like the pendulum has swung completely over to the other side (for now). Curious to see what the reaction will be around here when the Texans lose one.
Wait a minute: If the Texans defense does a complete 360 from last year wouldn't that mean that they wound up at the point from where they started - that being the worst defense in the league? Man, knowledge of geometry in this country must be at an all time low...
