They're different defenders. Paul has quicker hands and deceptive strength. Westbrook is taller and better able to challenge shots. It depends on what you want to go with.
I would take Rondo defensively over CP3. CP3 has quick hands and feet but Westbrook has size with his quickness to keep PGs out of the paint. Like Deron Williams always dominates CP3 in head to head matchups because of the size
To give you an idea, in 9 games in which Westbrook and Paul played each other here's what happened: Paul 19.6 ppg 10.2 apg 4.0 rpg 3.7 steals 2.3 TO 54.5% FG 40.9% 3P Westbrook 17.0 ppg 7.6 apg 3.8 rpg 2.1 steals 4.2 TO 41.5% FG 40.0% 3P
It depends completely on matchup. Westbrook uses his speed to get space and then his strength to finish. Also, you're comparing rookie Westbrook to MVP CP3 in that stat. Last 4 games against each other it's been about even.
Fair enough, I didn't think about that. Regardless, for my team I think Paul fits better. Yes, Deron has had success against Paul because of the size difference, but I have some serious defense down low in Bogut and Varejao if somebody like Deron is outmuscling Paul and getting to the paint.
Trying to trade Salmons for a better backup center. Whoever has Omer Asik, Deandre Jordan, Javale McGee, etc, I want those guys.
Very true. And even though Deron outmuscles CP3, CP3 is still fantastic defensively. And the help D on that team would be beautiful
You shouldn't have won that one. My team was better. There is a lot of luck involved in these things, though. It's much easier to build a team if you can start with a top 5 player.
Eh - you can finagle your way into a top 5 player. I in effect turned Jrue Holliday, Jason Terry and David West into Chris Paul Anderson Varejao and George Hill.
