Agreed. I was looking at Michael Irvin's career #s and he only had 1 season with 10 or more TDs and it was right on the dot 10. But... three rings trump regular season TDs at each and every turn.

If AJ is a big stud part of a championship team, he's going down in the pantheon. Without a ring, he kind of remind of Jeff Bagwell's perception outside of Houston.

When it's all said and done, AJ will go down as the greatest receiver of our generation.

No Moss, No Owens, not even Jerry Rice.

Rice was 2 generations ago. Moss/TO were 1 generation ago.

I know you guys here love to glorify Andre any chance you get, and it isn't that I'm a hater in any way. I draft him in my fantasy leagues often because he is so damn consistent but Ric is right on the money, if he never nets a ring... he'll be more Bagwell than Olajuwon.

Julio Jones is a nice up and comer but come on man you honestly believe he's better than those three?

57 games if we're only counting starts.

Andre and Schaub will be well past it after this season ends.

Jerry Rice is arguably the greatest football player of all time and in one 12 game season caught more TDs than Andre Johnson has caught combined in any 2 seasons.

Andre Johnson has put together a great career with zero playoff success to show for it.

Now if you want to say it is your opinion that when it is all said and done Andre Johnson will be the greatest of all time, then you are entitled to it.

But as of right now the facts point to something else entirely.

You think he'll be considered better than Moss or Owens?

Well neither of those guys contributed to a Super Bowl win (yet). They are both Hall of Famers, but Johnson will likely be able to pass them in yards and receptions. It is unlikely he'll catch either of them in TD catches, and certainly won't get anywhere near Rice.

Football is a simple game - score more points than your opponent, win the game. At the end of the day, AJ, bless his ultra-talented heart, does neither of those two most basic football requirements at a top-tier level. He just doesn't.

He's absolutely in the discussion for best current WR in football, he'll one day merit HoF consideration, I think.... but he's simply not the player far too many here believe he is. He's not on the same planet as Rice (no one is); he's assuredly not better than Moss; and I think most would rate TO ahead of him. And right now, I think Fitzgerald outrates him and that Megatron is on pace to do the same. In fact, CJ my be Puljos to AJ's Bagwell.

I knew I shouldn't have ever mentioned Jerry Rice, sorry to have the thread derailed and topic changed.

Tough question. However I think it's two different leagues.

    1. AJ
    2. Megatron
    .
    .
    3. Fitz
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    4. Jennings
    5. Wayne
    6. White

I'll go with AJ even i think Calvin is going to dominate the league as the best receiver bar none in about a year or so.

The bias in this poll is strong. You would think we were on a Houston message board. ;)

    Around 1:10 too.

    I'll still take AJ though.

not many wide recievers would be able to bounce a defender and crack two more to go into the endzone. I do love me some Megatron though.

No because be wont come close to their TD numbers and barely meets/passes their receptions/yardage numbers (in a pass happy era).

I'd probably take AJ right now, but Fitz does have better hands than Andre
