Yeah, saw that on the news earlier. Its totally awesome. Just when I get overly jaded towards the goodness of the average citizen, something like this happens that reminds me that there are some damn good people in this country.
He was in critical condition, but went through surgery, and the last I heard, was in stable condition.
Weird for them to lift up a burning car, pull him out and then just leave him laying there sprawled out like that.
It's really cool what they did but honestly I laughed a little when they just left him sprawled there. They probably just didn't want to move him, other than getting him away from the car, until a medical team got there.
Typical Jazz fans. Very classy. When is the last time that Daryl Morey or Rockets fans pull someone from under a burning car? Exactly.
there's not much more one can do unless they're an off duty doctor or EMT. i suppose someone could talk to him but i believe they did all they could.
You're taking your chances either way. Dragging him across the pavement is risky, too. Plus they knew the authorities had arrived, so they probably wanted to leave his treatment/care up to the pros and let them handle the fire as well. I've acted in a similar situation, helping a dying woman in the street whom everybody else didn't want to touch for fear of liability... you just act on instinct... I can't say I wouldn't have ran the hell away after clearing him of the car, either. Those people all risked their lives and deserve to be applauded no matter the outcome.
Cars do not explode like in the movies. They just catch on fire like an inferno. My sister's car caught on fire when I was younger and essentially melted
This is truth. An empty gas tank with just fumes is more likely to blow up than one with liquid gas. The transmission/brake/steering fluids are highly flammable, but not explosive.
My friend who thinks himself as Speed Racer flipped his car once doing a 2-wheel thing. He took the **** off thinking it'll explode and left his car there. Back on story. Good for the Utahians? Utahites? Utanians? Utanese? Uranus? Uranium?
