The fact that McClain believes it's only a 1-2 week injury has me convinced that it's a broken collarbone and he's out three months.
I see more positives than you can shake a stick at...Isolate in your mind the defense's great effort for a sec, and put that aside - you'll see Schaub playing a bit worse than what he typically can play...you'll see back up RB's showing good production but with the realization a 100% healthy Foster could have offered more... You combine the above to realize we shoved 34 points in the mouth of a colts defense that would have been the same even with the great Peyton Manning back there. . . Ok, now realize the Texans will have Foster back soon, now realize Schaub by law of averages will have better games going forward, now realize the defense could..actually..improve.. - O boy....I shudder
good news on Walter. Until he gets back, it will be a good chance for Jacoby to prove himself once and for all
To be fair, almost all (maybe all, I'd have to reread) of the defensive players interviewed after the game said the same thing. It wasn't a huge disappointment for me, more of an "Aw damn, we could've shut out the Colts and made a statement" moment. If it weren't for turnovers, it would have been a shutout. I'm just happy to see our defense hungry and expecting to put up goose eggs. Props to Phillips for lighting a fire under their asses and instilling a new mentality on a team that badly needed it. Maybe keeping Kubiak won't bite us in the ass as hard as we feared it would.
Ward's a solid player and I certainly wish him good health, but sometimes Kubiak's 'loyalty' gets the best of him. Tate really should be the #2 back and should be getting most of the attention while Foster's out.
Ward is so underrated. He's savvy. Not great at anything but he is efficient and gives great effort. His vision is pretty good. Not as good as Fosters, but up there. It would be huge if the Patriots could win this game. Miami looks to be playing above there level. This loss could have a hangover effect for their team. Their defense is ok, the offense is playing well. Blitz all day and we should be fine.
I can't recall any run that ward made that was "impressive"....Tate is a better runner in every way. Ward is good at hitting the hole. He's not fast, he's not elusive....he just makes the run. That's all. He should be third on the depth chart without any hesitation.
Dunno if this has been posted or how reliable this info is but FWIW : Rich Smith ALLsportsINTEL Rich Smith NFL UPDATE - Sources reporting 3 teams have contacted WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh Saints, Rams and Texans. http://twitter.com/#!/ALLsportsINTEL/status/113341531829698561
Having a hard time really thinking of many. Certainly not enough to put him over Tate. Tate is a better runner, more explosive. Not saying Ward is a bum in any way, but Tate has been more impressive imo.
