Its all about timing... and Foster + our O-line definitely has it. One thing is for-sure. Kubiak's biggest contribution to this team is being able to develop an o-line to cater to his system perfectly. This is starting to resemble Denver in many ways, where they could just plug any back into the same system and get results... of course nobody was as good as Terrel Davis, and nobody on this team is as good as Foster.
I would agree that Foster has better control of his speed and coordination, and yes the vision of a running back is what separates a few from the rest of the pack.
can we all agree that we still have a top three rusher with ben tate. Houston's O-line is awesome. Just need to find away to pick up the corner and safety blitzes that the Ravens and steelers love to send.
Arian will be back for game 2... After CJ2K got the whole hoard, no way this continues. We like ward and tate, but #23 simply gives us another level.
LOL - it was a general comment officer BBQ.....please forgive me for posting erroneous information in a celebratory thread. DD
Ben Tate reminds me of Bo Jackson the way he runs. Short choppy steps and those big shoulders, he's fun to watch.
I understand wanting Foster back in place of Ward, but Tate did just about as much as you could today...other than the fumble, he left very little on the field. He hits the holes hard and is difficult to bring down. Yes, Foster is better...but Tate still rushed for 116 yards on almost 5 yards per carry. Even if Foster never returns, our running game will be among the best in the NFL with Tate getting the majority of the carries. Ward is adequate, but he leaves a lot to be desired...he doesnt take full advantage of the massive holes that are opened up by the OLine.
If Walter is out for an extended length of time it would be a big blow. The guy is really underrated for all the unseen things he does, specifically blocking down field and catching everything thrown to him. Foster and Tate should be a scary thought for lots of teams...Ward and Slaton is nice insurance.
Tate didn't either. Ward is a solid back. Tate had several solid runs but no home runs; Ward is completely capable of that in this scheme.
Tate had an 18 yard run along with about 4 ten yard runs, thats plenty...lol, its not like home runs are available every play or every game, for that matter. Tate didnt leave many yards on the field at all today. Ward, on the other hand, did.
Does anyone know what the black box that Arian kept holding up to his ear was? It looked like the kind of phones that Houston Cellular used to sell back in the mid 90s.
If only there was a retired future Hall of Fame receiver who's currently talking to the Saints about returning out there for grabs..... Spoiler
