So how long before the next super virus wipes us all out?

I'd bet on wide scale riots leading to the failure to feed the 7 billion on the planet. We have greater odds of imploding than being exploded.

That seems like it will be self-sustaining. It may kill a lot of people, overpopulation, famine, drought, etc. But it will never wipe us out.

The asteroid, however, doesn't discriminate quite so much.
