KENTUCKY: More than one-third (34 percent) of the bridges in Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s home state are structurally deficient or obsolete

ARIZONA: In Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl’s home state, 12 percent of the bridges are “structurally deficient or functionally obsolete.”

The Repubs will go for the roughly half of the bill that defunds the social security system by cutting back on payroll taxes paid by employees and Obama's latest idea to cut back on the employer's part also.

Then we will have folks clamoring that social securiity is going broke sooner. Pretty clever on Obama's part to cut back on social securiy solvency in such a sneaky fashion. It looks like Obama won something, while the Repubs get to defund social security. Typical Obama.

Payroll taxes aren't for Social Security any more than other revenues. It all goes into the general fund.

So you're down with a communist system of transportation spending then since you just indicated you support our current system of centrally planning infrastructure spending through transportation bills and appropriations.

    Hail Marx!

as a republican, i hope they bow down and to everything obama says..

obama is banking on them fighting back, so that way obama can say during the election "gop wont pass what i want"

i dont want that excuse for him to use...i want the gop to pass every obama bill, that way when it doesnt work, obama can shut his mouth for once in his life and go back to watching the bulls with his gf oprah

i will love it when the gop says "hey dont look at us, we passed your crappy jobs bill with every detail you wanted, its not our fault jobs are not created'

and obama will run out of people to blame..he then will blame the next earthquake or fires or even god for the economy,..i really hope america isnt dumb enough to fall for obamas excuses...but i think we are

why would obama lie to us? he holds hands with his daughters and smiles alot and is a minority...so he can say anything and the american public swoon to his feet ...unbelieveable...dont blame obama or gop when you lose your job...blame your dumbass self for not getting an education and competing.

Obama cant say it on tv, but what he is really thinking is "hey you lost your job? well dumby you should have stayed in school longer".Thats what every politician is thinking

Folks like you who would rather watch Obama fail just so that he cannot win second term than see the economy improve are truly pathetic filled-with-hate human beings and should be ashamed to call themselves an American.

More like he doesn't want GOP intransigence to be used as a scapegoat for policies he knows will fail.

One guy who sells dried fruits online doesn't think the stimulus will immediately make him hire until more people start buying dried fruits => OMG OBAMA JOBS BILL WON'T MAKE ANYONE HIRE EMPLOYEES!!!!

The NYT didn't base the title of their article off the opinion of one dried fruit merchant.......try reading the article.

Sure, the job plan may not cause employers to hire. But use some logic here- if Obama's plan puts millions more people to work, they will be spending more, and when they spend more- a.k.a. a sign that the economy is getting better, THEN employers will hire more.

To do nothing is not acceptable.

Nobody promotes doing nothing. Not one politician in the whole federal government. Here is a list of what the Republicans have been trying (according to them):
