rezdawg, there are pages and pages of people wondering if the Colts might not be in the running for Andrew Luck, not to mention several pages in this thread ripping me for suggesting they might get lucky and stumble into a pretty pedestrian 9 wins. I would argue the *vast* majority of people realize how valuable he is and have adjusted their expectations accordingly. I've yet to see anyone even remotely hint that they won't miss a beat on their way to a 10th straight playoff appearence. Ehhhhhh. First of all, Manning played in both games, throwing 21 and 18 passes, respectively. That they lost both games speaks much more to the team taking its foot off the pedal, especially the final game against Buffalo, played in a monumental snowstorm, iirc, and coming after losing out on a perfect season, than it does the quality of the team, which, btw, saw *several* starters sit, not just Manning.
Clark and Collie are products of the system. They'll have decent seasons (nothing compared to what they would have if #18 was healthy) if Collins picks up the offense the way you say he will. I have no doubt that Collins cannot make the reads that Manning does at the line, which is the reason why this offense has been so deadly in years past. Will Collins be serviceable? Sure. Will the Colts even slightly resemble the team they are when Peyton is on the field? No chance. Oh, and honestly, for this season alone I would take Collins. But, based on what I've seen for the future, I'm pretty excited about TJ Yates.
Well, I just don't see the Colts as being a challenge to many teams. If Manning misses the whole season, I see them around the 5 win mark. I say this with Collins at the helm...and not some scrub like Painter. That would further emphasize my point. We'll see how it plays out. A 9 win season by the Colts and I may have no place to ever speak football again. I'm actually very curious to see how it goes down.
Disagree with this...Indy has better recievers but Tennessee had a vastly better OL and a HUGE advantage at RB along with a better staff and most importantly he had been in that system for over a year.
Yeah he had a better OL, but he was playing against a stacked box with WRs who couldn't get past the box. Teams might crowd the box again, but Indy's weapons will be able to get behind them. I really don't know... guess we'll see how it goes in the first game.
66% completion guy handing it over to 55% guy ~95 QB rating to 80 rating Completed 450 passes handing it to attempted 275 Unprecedented ability to read, redirect plays, and mislead defenses at the line gives way to 100% relies on the OC and going with less than 3 weeks prep. Collins will benefit from a good corps...but without a running game to rely on, this passing-dependent offense is going to suffer. HUGELY.
While all of what you said may be true, you just never know how we'll play. Hopefully, we come out aggressive and unfazed by the fact that Manning won't play. I'm keeping my expectations to a minimum til I see some consistency.
Does it get any more of a must win game than this? If they lose this game, I'm going to be so incredibly pissed. They should win this one going away.
If I had the means and the time I'd be catching a flight to Vegas and putting a couple grand down on the Texans to cover. There's no way this shouldn't be a double digit win. i'm a gambling man myself and this looks like the most sure thing in a while. Of course I'll be eating it with a few thousand Texans fans if we somehow blow it or allow the Colts to keep it close.
eff me, now I'm on the site and I don't know how I go away without placing one of the biggest money wagers I ever have on a single game....
Well I placed some bets anyway Texans -8.5 Browns -6.5 Chiefs -5.5 Eagles -4 Over a grand profit if they all pull it out. Break even if just the Texans win.
Me, too, actually. It could very well be the disaster many are predicting... But I just have a hard time believing that one guy is *that* important. We'll see.
New Texans Mobile App. I really like it so I thought I would pass the word around, it has a bunch of cool features. I believe the app was at first restricted to only verizon customers but they have made it available to all now. It's compatible with iphone android and blackberry, if you can't find the app in your phones market text Texans to 51288 and they will text you back a link to download the app. I love the fantasy tracker on the app! Just type Houston Texans App in the market to search for the app.
