Does anybody have a link to the speech, I turned it on late, I really want to hear this speech. Looks like the president was laying it all out there.

It was surreal seeing one side of the aisle sit on their hands while the President talked about putting teachers, vets and students to work and making America great again.

They don't, it's Obama's tiresome tactic of presenting false choices.

"Hey, I'm going to call a joint session of Congress to accuse my political opponents of poisoning children. Pass my stimulus retread bill right now."

So they want to poison Obama's false choices along with the children?

You just want to sit back and do nothing like the other republicans sitting on their hands during that speech? What the hell is wrong with people?

Not for the state, no. There's no productivity. Just wealth transfer, doesn't grow the pie at all.

Borrowing money to pay people to dig ditches is not how you grow an economy.

A hiring has to generate a profit to beget more hiring and a growing economy.

Obama refuses to free up any capital that he doesn't get to control and parcel out to his favored constituencies.

And these temporary rebates are fine in principle since they give people their money back, but it won't lead to new hiring. They would have to be permanent rate cuts.

His plan won't move the needle on unemployment. Businesses are moving overseas or just waiting him out.

    GOP already passed something.

Why would they vote for a watered down version of failed 2009 policy?

uh, almost half of the President's plan is for tax cuts to business for hiring.

So, you'd rather people be unemployed than engage in the profession of teaching children, building/fixing roads and bridges, maintaining law and order, and conducting scientific research in universities and national labs just because they'd be "working for the state."

Having better schools, roads and bridges, safer neighborhoods, universities that attract talented students from around the word, more research out of which future technologies and economic opportunities grow are surely the kind of things that drive businesses overseas. This is why all of the other countries, from China to Germany, are actively emptying their schools of teachers, ending road repairs, terminating all funding for higher education and publicly funded research.

    Dogmatic Randians are unbearably stupid.

He's giving big tax breaks to small business. You don't support that?

Following this line historically our nation would suck.

We'd have no interstate highway system, no rural electrification, no hoover dam, ... etc.

The US would have been 3rd world long ago following your philosophy.

Yeah, if only we had more roads and bridges, that's what companies are clamoring for so they'll start hiring.

And yes, I'm against federal funding of education and scientific research. Total waste of my money. If I see promising research I'll invest in it myself.

Maintaining law and order, again a false choice, businesses are not holding back because law and order isn't being maintained.

People who think they can plan the economy with utopian social schemes are unbearably stupid. Why can't you just leave us alone? Enough with your taxes and your rules and your grand designs. Capital will flow where it is needed if you would just keep your god damn hands off the controls.

I support lowering/eliminating the corporate income tax rate, permanently. Targeted subsidies and temporary rebates is classic Obama, guy refuses to let anyone have their capital without his strings attached. Same crap that didn't work before. He loves the power of his carrots and sticks.

Businesses know this guy is a meddler of the first order. He'll only let you have more of your money if you behave how he wants. Unless you're Jeff Immelt or some green jobs boondoggle company like Solyndra, it's safer just to hunker down and wait for him to leave office.
