If he is out for the season, they will win 4 games. If the texans don't win the the division I don't know what to say. They could probably go 7-9 and win the division.

I love Manning as a QB, but if he is out, I find it funny for the guy that drafted him in our fantasy league.

Highly unlikely for several reasons. Manning is terrific, no question - but he's not single-handedly winning 12 games/year. They have some talent on that team. My guess is that without him, they'll win... at least 6 games and probably anywhere from 7-to-9. Collins isn't great - but he's not terrible, either.

And unless his career is over, Manning will be back next year and should have... 3-5 elite years left in his right arm. Spending those resources on Luck, imo, would be a waste of time.

Lastly, why is everyone so petrified of Andrew Luck? Yes, he's a tremendous prospect with seemingly a lot of Manning-like traits... but he's yet to take a snap in the NFL. We have no idea what this guy is going to do as a pro.

RT @AndrewSiciliano: Jim Caldwell, when asked about Irsay's tweet saying Manning out for a while: "It's obviously accurate or he wouldn't have tweeted it."

Colts? Pound the ball? I understand being cautious, but I think you've taken it a little overboard. The Colts running game is atrocious.

It's funny, but people forget that the Colts' most dominant stretch came when they were decent at running the ball.

From 2003-2007 they were something like 18th-19th in rushing every year.

Since then, they've literally been the worst. And it shows at the end of games.

Oh, I remember that well. When they had Marshall Faulk and the early years of Joseph Addai's career, that offense was a force to be reckoned with. But, year in and year out, they continued to ignore that the offensive line was getting old and beaten up because Peyton's happy feet covered the problem so well. Now that Addai isn't what he once was, and they have no viable back-up at the running back position, the line woes are starting to show. And it's not just in the running game either. Defenses are getting to Manning a lot more than they used to, and that used to be one of the hallmarks of the Colts....keeping #18 clean.

Also, how much gray hair do you think an owner like Irsay gives a coach like Caldwell. Caldwell is typically a pretty tight-lipped guy, but when you have your eccentric owner tweeting the team's dirty laundry for all the world to see, it's gotta be a little irksome. I bet that comment about "if it wasn't true, he wouldn't have tweeted it" had a littttttle bit of resentment behind it. That's just my conjecture anyways.....I could be way off.

I wonder how long "a while" is? Obviously, if he's not practicing this week at all, he's not going to gain all of his arm strength back by next week, or probably even the week after. Is "a while" something like 4 games, or more like 10 or 12?

I'm pretty sure 2-3 months for a cervical fusion would be before Peyton can even start to throw, much less get in the pads. If he had a fusion, I doubt he plays this year.

I would say a cervical fusion for a quarterback is like a running back having an ACL repair.

if this is true, this might be a career for him. neck injuries? nerve damage? nothing left to prove for this guy and way too much to risk.

It's Peyton. He always has something to prove. He'll be back next year.
