??? My comment about interleague has nothing at all to do with an unbalanced schedule, of course we'd be playing the Mariners and A's a lot more, we'd be in the same league....
Forget that, AL sucks and Selig needs to hand power over to someone more interested in the integrity of the game.
Crane's past has given MLB leverage to make this conditional..."we have our doubts about you, but if you'll just agree to move the 'stros to the AL, we'll overlook them." I'd rather Drayton hold on to the team a few more years looking for a new owner, frankly.
Chances are that Drayton has checked out IMHO. I think he was so eager to move on that he turned a blind eye to Crane's issues and moved ahead with a presser MLB told him not to have, just yet. If he stays on the team will be in limbo until another buyer is found and who knows how long that will be. I don't trust Wade to make enough good decisions at the major league level to really feel good about waiting it out. Ill also worry about the upcoming draft and the top pick, Drayton will listen to Selig and probably keep it around slot making signablity an issues with the 1st pick and the others. Stros aren't in a good spot right now. They are going to have an owner with a ton of skeletons and questions or be stuck in limbo for a good while...either while playing in the AL West.
Double This. It's not so much that they might move. It's more than MLB (Selig) is trying to force it by dangling approval over Crane's head. That, is complete bulls***, IMO.
Unless they are planning on expanding or contracting, they would have to move two teams to the AL for it to work.
Unfortunately this may be the fastest way to the AL. We know how Bud and Drayton are. The Astros would fall all over themselves to get to the AL to appease Bud.
Why? There are 16 teams in the NL, 14 in the AL. They want 15 teams in each league, 5 teams in each division. 16-1=15. 14+1=5. One team moving "balances" out the league.
If they moved two teams to the AL that would defeat one of their primary reasons for the move - an equal number of teams in both leagues. The scheduling would work if they have an inter-league game every day.
I am mother ****ing sick of hearing about realignment bull**** every single time I want to read about sports these days.
NL is baseball AL is softball Please don't make my Astros play softball. Softball is for girls, and old guys. Maybe there is a constructive place for me to b**** out Selig and also let Jim Crane know my opinion?
Amen! Super-conferences- more talk about that than the actual games astros to AL- even heard of NFL realignment talk yesterday when/if a LA team pops up... It can get annoying pretty quickly
I'm at a loss how that large dose is appeciably worse than large doses of the Brewers, Pirates, Reds. Maybe I'm an idiot, but it just dawned on me that Texas is the issue here. They want a central time zone team in their division, which is why Arizona, which makes more sense, isn't going to move. I think a Texas/Houston division rivalry would be every bit as great as St. Louis/Houston; Chicago/Houston, et al., if not moreso.
