No surprise. It's been discussed in length here: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=205501 BTW - Somehow, at the end of the day, I still think it's ARZ who ultimately ends up going to the AL West, & the Astros to the old NL West. Crane is too much of a traditionalist to allow this move otherwise his ownership would've been approved long ago. Go Crane.
Crane is already show more fight back than Uncle Drayton showed in 20 years. I really genuinely do hate bud selig, what a pathetic excuse for a commissioner.
I'd rather move to the NL West. But if we move to the AL, at least we already have a pretty good DH in Carlos Lee.
plus he's not really even a dh anymore. he doesn't hit for enough average or power. he's just.... carlos.
At the end of the day its probably a monetary decision. I heard on the radio that Crane has real concerns about the effects of the move on the new Rockets/Astros TV station. Moving back start times to 10:30pm ET could kill the Astros ratings on the new network.
Carlos Lee would have the 5th best OPS among AL qualified DHs, and that is after a beyond terrible April. Carlos Lee has been a solid player since May 1st.
Why cant they either approve him, or not, based on just the facts concerning whether he would be a good owner or not. This powerplay BS makes me angry
We'll probably have to move to a West division regardless if they do even out the leagues. It's just a matter of whether it's in the AL or NL.
If we were not trying to change ownership, this wouldnt be an issue. A well placed owner just has to say no, and thats the end of it. Its the taking advantage of our situation that erks me.
Six games a year against the Yankees will be better than never seeing the Cardinals, Cubs, Braves, Phillies, and Dodgers? and Giants? Six games a year will make it OK to have all those yawners with the likes of Seattle, Oakland, Kansas City, Detroit, Baltimore, and Toronto?? And to have 13 or 14 guys on the roster who only play half the freaking game???? No freaking thanks. Screw the AL and the DH, and screw Bud Selig.
Interleague my friend, with each division having even numbered teams, there will almost always be an interleague series being played. Astros won't be going anywhere soon in the NL, I'm ok with going to see an Astros vs Red Sox or Astros vs Tampa game.
