They're straight up hitting a giant reset button and restarting all their comic lines with issue(s) #1 Crazy how the most iconic characters need to get reworked every 7-10 years by DC. http://dcu.blog.dccomics.com/2011/06/01/a-note-from-the-dc-comics-co-publishers-we-hate-secrets/ http://www.maximumedge.com/cgi/news/article.cgi/20110531/D9NIMONO1
IMO, the entire US comic industry needs to take a cue from the Japanese manga industry. Make a great story, actually give a satisfying end, then, move on.
Wow, Jim Lee is co-publisher at DC now? Still remember how popular he was back in early 90s doing X-Men etc.
Do people still buy comic books? What's the whole point of this? Will the studios also reboot everything?
Anybody here sick of Super-hero movies??? I'll keep my Superman II and you can have the other ones....
Does anyone remember a comic book, with some dude that could heal himself with nanites or bs? He had lighting bolts in his hair like Michael Irvin but on both sides. He also had a red circle on his chest that was from an operation to give him his powers. Any clue?
I agree- most of the stories are contrived and aimed at/get interrupted by huge yearly mega-crossovers. Stuff like the Planet Hulk run in Hulk is what I like.
Some of the DC reboots are releasing today at your local comic shop, If you haven't picked up the Justice League #1, they did a second run, might want to check your local shop if in stocked... Action Comics #1 Animal Man #1 Bat Girl #1 Batwing #1 Detective Comics #1 Green Arrow #1 Hawk and Dove #1 Men Of War #1 O.M.A.C #1 Static Shock #1 Storm Watcher #1 Swamp Thing #1
I buy indie comics a lot. There are always tons of new comics and graphic novels that need to be read before Hollywood ruins them on the screen.
i got JL#1 on the iPad yesterday. I've always been more of a Marvel guy but it was interesting and I would buy more. I'm catching up on this "Flashpoint" stuff. It seems like "House of M".
I tried their [Marvel] Online thing. . . They need to work on the interface. It does not have the same feel. They also have a very spotty collection. I was wondering how it would work on a Kindle or something like that They need to make the decision to DIGITIZE every comic they make going forward. [should have about 10 yrs ago!] The main issues I had was the time of loading between pages. The inability to see the whole page [or in some cases two pages] at once in a legible way. BUT I agree with you. I think they worry about them being shared and them losing money. I think will forever need paper for the COLLECTORS When I was a kid . . comics cost 75 centers I think if they could get back to that with downloads [which would KILL alot of cost imo] I would think about starting a again . .. getting my kid a subscription etc. Rocket River
Is there a back-issue subscription service for DC like there is for Marvel? I can't find it if it exists. RR- when did you try the Marvel service? It seems like they add more every day, like they have a full time person scanning them in. I'm with you- paper comics just cost too much. However, you can get cheap bundles at Half-Price books or flea markets.
BTW - I hate how DC seems to constantly paint itself into a corner with their characters So they just turn around and REBOOT. Their Ambiguity was always an issue for me too No consistancy Rocket River
