36-3 8 sacks Arian goes crazy and gets 280 yards rushing but with just 3 TD instead of 4 (Blame Kubiak)... But the Defense actually is more fun to watch as we blast Collins to the sidelines - hopefully he will be okay...
That's what SHE sa--errr... ummm... no. Haha. Not to mention that I wasn't even talking to him. Touché and PWN'd at the same time. We're probably worrying here if they'll be MANNINGless or not, and they'll come out and say "Yeah, he'll play", just like when Tom Brady is listed always as "doubtful" just before the game... damn you, New England coach. I bet you anything he plays.
I don't see any way how this is not a 14+ point win. Opening day guarantees they'll be ready to play, we usually jump out to a lead on the Colts anyway ... and this time they have no Peyton to bring them back. And Kerry Collins doesn't have a stellar running game to rely on.
I agree that this gameshould be a rout of multiple scores but kubiak is 2-4 in openers. The 09 jets loss and 08 Pitt loss were both some of the worst showings for their respective seasons
And both of those teams were the types of teams that the Texans traditionally match up with terribly -- very tough defenses with good lines on both sides of the ball. We've always played the Colts well despite our record against them.
Texans: What they play before they play By Paul Kuharsky You see them in headphones, walking into the stadium, heading from the locker room to the field, as they stretch and run and get ready for kickoff. Before the iPods are turned off and put away, what’s the last song the Texans listen to in order to get in the right frame of mind? Build a playlist based on this if you dare: Receiver Kevin Walter: Phil Collins, “In the Air Tonight” “It reminds me of my rookie year in Cincinnati; they always had it going in pregame. It gets me going. It’s game time, let’s go.” Linebacker Connor Barwin: Kayne West, “Power” “It just puts me in a good mood, gets me ready to go.” Defensive end J.J. Watt: Eminem, “Lose Yourself” “It just reminds me it’s all about one moment, your one chance to shine. For me, every game is a chance to shine.” Cornerback Jason Allen: DMX, “In the Air” “You feel that feeling, it just gets me riled up and ready to go. Overcome adversity, be ready to bounce back.” Running back Arian Foster: Janelle Monet, “Archandroid” (album, not song) “It relaxes me. I listen to it a lot. There is an old proverb that is you can control your breathing, you will have the strength of 10 tigers. When you get amped, your muscles tighten up, you get dehydrated quicker, you start thinking too much.” Linebacker DeMeco Ryans: Earl Washington, “Hard Fighting Soldier” (via YouTube.) “Of course it pumps me up, but it also clears my mind and allows me to go into a true focus mode.” Linebacker Brian Cushing: Phil Collins, “In the Air Tonight” “My linebacker coach in college, Ken Norton, that was his favorite song. It was always the last thing we did, kind of a tradition we started. Any time I hear that song now I just think about him and all the stuff he taught me.” Center Chris Myers: Mudvayne, “Dig” “It just kind of gets me up. It’s one of those songs, you can’t really tell what they’re saying, I don’t listen to that type of stuff at any other time aside from just before a game. Just real, real heavy stuff.” Safety Danieal Manning: Canton Jones, “I Won’t Stop” “That gets me fired up, let’s me know I won’t stop no matter what’s going on in the game.” Defensive end Antonio Smith: Marvin Sapp, “The Best in Me” and Fred Hammond “No Weapon” “They put me in the place I need to be.” Receiver Andre Johnson: Phil Collins, “In the Air Tonight.” “I kind of got hooked on that song in high school. Our coach used to always play it before big games. They gave their little speech and then played it. It just calms me down, gets me in that game mode.” Cornerback Johnathan Joseph: Young Jeezy, “Let’s Get It.” “It relaxes you, it gets your mind right.” Unable to pick just one, or rebels who don’t wear headphones: Quarterback Matt Leinart: “I like to do either Eminem or completely go opposite with Enya. I don’t know the song, they all sound the same to me. It’s probably split. Most of the time I try to go more mellow, relax the nerves a little bit.” Safety Glover Quin: “I like to chill and focus on my assignment. I can’t focus on my assignment and listen to music. I can’t do two things and once. I’m not that talented.” Quarterback Matt Schaub: “There is usually a good mix in the stadium. The sound system in our stadium isn’t the best for music, so we put some speakers down on the field for warm-ups which is pretty cool. They have a good mix of songs. A good one, a staple is always ‘In the Air Tonight.’” Kicker Neil Rackers: “If I am really pumped up for a game, I might throw some Enya on there. Any song. Just that strange voice where you don’t really know what she’s singing just calms me down a little bit.” Running back Ben Tate: “I’m not a big music guy. I might listen a little bit before the game. But closer to the game I’m more quiet and focused on what I’ve got to do.” http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth
5 or 6 of them list "in the air tonight" I do think the DMX version would get you pumped more than the original though. I now confirm what I felt about Leinart with a mental picture of him jamming to Enya before the game. The kicker listening to Enya is fine.. QB it ain't.
Agree 100%. This is what makes Peyton Peyton. Rarely takes a sack and always finds the open man for a quick little dink and dunk pass even while facing a blitz. No excuses at all this year. The Texans have their vet CB, OD is 100%, the D has been beefed up in terms of personnel and coaching and the O is set across the board with proven guys in a known system in their primes. The sacks and pressure we saw in the preseason should just be the tip of the iceberg. This will be an epic beatdown sans Manning. Texans 36 Colts 10
First, Manning will start, he shouldn't but he will. Then, before the end of the first quarter, J.J. Watt is going to knock him out of the game and maybe end his season. In any case, it is going to bad, and the Colts will regret letting him play. The Texans will then dominate, mixing up the run and the pass. The Colts make a valiant comeback, but it will fall short, 35 -28 Texans.
Apparently we have a bunch of Patrick Batemans on the team. Seriously, "In the Air Tonight" that's whats gets you amped for a game?
If he shouldn't he won't. This is an important game to them if they want to win the division, but if he's not ready, and apparently not practicing, the inevitable QB hits will set him back further and they could lose him for a lot longer with his already slow rehab progress. Their schedule is easier for the last half than the first, so finishing strong could be a better option for them than risking Peyton against us, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Tampa, or KC, all of whom either have a stout defense or a good run game to win the time of possession game.
I hope kubiak doesnt abandon the run, or he doesnt want to call run plays, because thats what the Colts are expecting. Texans 30 Colts 20
You're telling me a bunch of murderous investment executives will be running around on the field come Sunday? Yes! I think the song is played to calm the players down and get them focused rather than to amp them up.
:grin:N:grin: You are correct. Manning will start! FS D.Manning will start for the Houston defense. Peyton will not play. He is nowhere near 100% and him playing would be risking his career. From what i have taken from the. Preseason and TC is that we now have a defensive identity. Regardless of its a top 5 or top 15 defense, its vastly improved. This season the Texans will be still trying to win by outscoring their opponents, and this is the reason why I believe we will have a historical season. Even if our defense doesn't fully come together til mid season, we are still going to be good enough to create some key turnovers. The offense will put up numbers, we pretty much have the best QB/RB/WR combo in the league. Add the capital letter D into our Texans Equation and the results will be a lot better than most of us our expecting! With that said, Texans- 31 Colts- 17
