Now here's a Clutchfans poster that can honestly say he predicted the future... http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=265755&postcount=17
I'm surprised so many people have negative views about how we responded post 9/11....Not that I dont have my criticisms, but there had to be some things we got right, no? Not that I'm for these things, but hypothetically, if another attack had taken place in '03 and we hadnt infringed on civil liberties the way we did, hadnt setup national security institutions, and hadnt gone to war, wouldnt we have blamed the administration for its lack of response? As for fighting back, the problem is that its not always clear who to 'fight back' against. Terrorist cells are disconnected, disjoint, and not representative of any state. Also, I'm not confident about how we would respond if something else happened. Let's say something happened in a metro/subway system- would people tolerate body scanners for going into the metro? Or body scanners for going to a movie? Or to a sporting event? How many people would just stop using those things altogether? As much as we pride our resiliency and ability to overcome, part of me feels that we've showed very little of that in the past and wouldnt demonstrate much of it in the future....I dunno, just my 2 cents
What I have learned for the past 10 years: We have not had an attack. Everything is Bush's fault. Lefties are even more demonic than ever. Ms Palin got more balls than Barry and will kick his ass in a fight to the death! Carry on.......

Boots will be put in asses, in a way that is american, preferably by a faux cowboy wearing $200 pearl snap shirts. These colors don't run, but these others will if you wash them in hot water. Politics, politicians, television, the general voting public - including just about all of us - are pretty much a hindrance to progress, because no matter how lofty our speech, we are all selfish assholes. 'A simple life ain't all that hard'
............................................wait, the Libya that we improved our relations with during his presidency? Note that I don't blame Bush for that at all, I'm just wondering what the heck Bush had to do with what's going in Libya now.
Honest to god, I wish that a country or clearly designated group did this. We could carpet bomb them for days and days on end until there is nothing left and all signs of life, even the possibilities for future life in that region is completely decimated. It will be a testament and an example to what happens if you **** with 1st-world countries. Unfortunately it was an idiot band of terrorists. And the war that followed ruined the lives of innocent people, and pretty much destroyed our reputation in the Middle East and a little bit internationally.
The Bush administration did begin a process of normalization with the Qadafi regime, something which I have seen leftists hold against him in the aftermath of the Libyan revolution (while some of them act like the SOB was a good guy). I don't. But I also don't see how Bush helped with creating the conditions for this revolution, which is my point against you.
Put it this way, I don't defend turning the other way and not doing anything, but look whats happened. They kill several hundred civilians In turn we go and kill insurgents while killing several thousand civilians They kill thousands of US troops We kill several thousand more civilians and a few insurgents They retaliate There is absolutely zero chance, none, that they are going to be the ones to say "ok, we've had enough" They're going to keep killing as long as we keep responding.
Unless we kill them all. In history when two groups, nations, or factions are faced with conflict; either it ends in surrender or complete annihilation. There is no, OK WE'RE GONNA TAKE THE HIGH ROAD! That's only in movies.
Exactly, but there's a lot more people living in the middle east than living in the US. There will never be an outcry from that region that they've had enough and want us to stop.
