I don't think I ever watched a full episode of Friends. I actually watch a lot of HIMYM. But they seem similar. Just seems the characters on HIMYM are more appealing to me. Alyson Hannigan > the whole cast of Friends amirite?
i like HIMYM but that laugh track is horrendous and takes away from the show. Friends is better by a hair.
I find HIMYM really annoying, I dont like any of the characters except for maybe Jason Segal. Friends first few seasons were a lot funnier imo
HIMYM by far. The Friends hang out at a coffee bar for crying out loud. First 3-4 seasons of HIMYM were gold, but the last few have really been lackluster for me.
Friends probably although I use to enjoy HIMYM I got bored of it and they sort of played out the Barney character.
I've always found Friends unwatchable. None of those people are funny. They should be dead in ditches.
HIMYM seems to squeeze in a star wars joke with Seinfeld level consistency. And Hannigan post pregnancy cleavage>>> Jennifer Aniston in what was apparently the coldest apartment in New York. Spoiler
How I Met Your Mother IF they finally end it soon by showing us who his wife is going to be. Already sort of dragging it out too long, which is what ruined Friends after about season 3/4.
Friends, just because I think it was a little more grounded. But the actors on How I Met Your Mother have a lot more charisma and the writers definitely work a lot harder.
i'm actually watching an episode of HIMYM on WB right now and have watched it since the series started, and no doubt about it, it's not even close to friends (which happens to come on next). we're talking an all-timer versus a show that will end up with a very respectable run with some really good episodes. as in looks or her character on the show? because lily might be my least favorite character on how i met your mother and looks-wise, well, no. even now aniston still looks better.
Two things that Friends didn't have: Neil Patrick Harris and Colbie Smulders. Neil Patrick Harris plays a straight guy so well, it's scary and Colbie is damn beautiful.

I'd take Aniston and Cox over Smulders any day. Smulders isn't even the hottest on the show, Hannigan is.
On Alyson, I'm not saying she's a supermodel but I find her (and her character) way more appealing and interesting than the 6 vacuous friends. Same with NPH and Segal. The preference even goes down to the theme songs, I find "Hey Beautiful" catchy while I can't stand hearing "I'll be there for you".
