I do love curb, but seinfeld is an all-time fave, one I can watch twice a day every day, pretty much.
Curbed is forced, and just watching some of the shows that have tried to model themselves on it: The Comeback, Fat Actress, Paul Reiser's mess; I have to say it might be a less complete show. The best/most successful sitcoms of the last twenty years have all drawn directly from Seinfeld. But everyone's having so much fun and Larry David is really an amusing, enjoyable person. He really should be commended for his racial satire; you really can't do that on broadcast television. And it's still working after eight years.

Curbs a great show, but it's no contest whatsoever. Sein rules! I notice that the "Larry David" character on Curb has an awful lot of similarities with George Costanza. Coincidence maybe? Also I wonder if any/how much of the the Larry/George personas is from Larry David in real life. Has he ever commented on this?
yeah George is based on Larry, not a coincidence at all. there's plenty of commentary on this on the Seinfeld DVD's as well as the Curb Your Enthusiasm pilot episode. Jason Richards has shamelessly stated that he just does a Larry Davis impression as his inspiration for George. it's a plot point all the time in Curb, from the first season pitching shows for Jason and Julia, to the last season's Seinfeld reunion show...

Kramer had his moments, but in a lot of Seinfeld episodes (especially after the "Cosmo" years) they seemed to force his subplots in, just so he could do his slapstick. It got tired. Plus, he's a racist in real life, which kind of detracts from viewing reruns. Whereas, George was the best part of Seinfeld. And Curb is 100% George. Curb.
Larry David wins either way. Also, Larry Charles was a big part of Seinfeld (writing/directing), and now he's continuing it on with Curb. Basically, its like Larry David/Larry Charles are like a coach/GM that went from one championship team and then built another one from scratch... without the help of the supposed "star" player in Seinfeld.
To me Leon is the black version of Kramer, I wonder if LD created that character as an irony of Michael Richards' incident in the comedy club.
Completely agree, it bugged me that they laugh-tracked Kramer's first scene, while George got bupkus. It was like Kramer was another Lloyd Braun stealing George's thunder.
Can't go wrong with either. Larry created them both so they are really just extensions of one another. I don't think I could choose one over the other.
We can probably give Jerry a little more credit than this for Seinfeld (maybe editing/collaborating) considering everything that David did before then was a hot mess.
This is going to be an unpopular opinion, but as someone who used to "enjoy" Curbed and Seinfeld both, I came to eventually realize that I didn't actually enjoy them. Curbed was always too cringe-worthy and formulaic and Seinfeld never honestly made me laugh out loud, and the constant spiraling dynamic got tiring after a while. However, "George" is a timeless character and one of my favorite characters on any T.V. show or pop culture bit ever.
