Not that Manning tutoring him wouldn't be great, but Luck is ready to go as-is. One of the few guys that can make an impact right from the get-go.

I read somewhere that only about half of the NFL teams are carrying a 3rd QB.

Twenty teams have three QBs on their 53-man roster. Of the 12 teams that have two QBs, all but two have a QB on their practice squad. St. Louis is carrying only two QBs and doesn't have one on PS, and Tampa Bay hasn't announced its practice squad yet.

I think any team can sign a guy off your practice squad, they would risk losing him

They're essentially free agents. If another teams wants to sign them and put them on their active roster, they can.

True but snaking a low round, developmental QB is not high on most teams' priority list. 12 other teams are doing what I suggested, stashing the developmental QB on the practice squad; it seems a shame Nading or some other player had to lose their job for someone who in all likelihood won't see the field this season.

Sorry to tell yall this but the Texans will lose to the Colts next sunday. Kerry Collins will destroy the Texans secondary and pass for 3 td's.

Nading made the team. Look, it's not like what they are doing is uncommon and a third string QB with the development potential does have some value.

I'd laugh too but, this is the Texans we are talking about here.

No type of futility is impossible.

Didn't they waive Nading when they resigned Hartmann? I think that's what happened yesterday.

Nading is just a guy. He has been 3 years and hasn't done much. Brooks Reed and Bryan Braman are better players and have bigger upside than Nading. TJ Yates wouldn't have cleared waivers in all likely and Texans like him so why would they risk losing him for a 3rd string OLB?

Not making any comments on Yates, but you can't just "stash" a guy on the practice squad. Like I said, if another team wanted him, they could take him. Likewise, if we like a QB on somebody elses practice squad more than Yates, we could sign them and get rid of TJ.

The Texans must feel that Yates will develop into at least a competent backup. If you really think a player factors into your future plans, you find a roster spot for them and don't risk losing them to another team by cutting them and putting them on the practice squad.

The Texans must have known what they were getting into when they drafted him. Leinart and Orlovsky were still on the roster and they knew they were going to get rid of one. I'm sure they didn't spend a draft pick on TJ with the intention of cutting him and putting him on the practice squad. So they must have planned early on that they'd carry 3 QB's on the active roster again this season.

As far as I know, every QB who was drafted made their teams 53 man roster with the exception of Greg McElroy who broke his thumb and was put on IR.

Yates would probably have cleared waivers. As was stated before 20 teams already are carrying 3 QB's and Yates wasn't exactly a huge prospect going into the draft.

I don't think he would have cleared waivers. I think a team like the Redskins, Rams, or Falcons would have been all over him. Besides why take the chance. Who is more valuable a 3rd string QB or 3rd string OLB? Pretty simple answer. Gary Kubiak and Greg Knapp are two of the best QB coaches in the league and they see something in Yates which is good enough for me.

And they could just let Nading become a free agent and sign him later if they need him. 3 year veteran pass rushers with a career total of .5 sacks are not high on teams priority lists either.

With or Without Manning Playing this year
The Texans should go 6-0 in the division. No less than 5-1

Some ex-player cant remember his full name damione something was on espn earlier, and he said the Tacks were gonna win the division. If you don't wanna pick the Texans fine, but seriously the Tacks? Its either the Texans or Jaguars imo.
